Ideas for a 32" LCD
« on: November 09, 2008, 01:02:48 pm »
Ive got a new 32" LCD that I want to make a cabinet out of. I'm in the planning/idea phase I really like the modern look of this.
Any other examples along these line or maybe even more bare? Thanks

Thanks. My design is 70cm wide and can accomodate up to 27 inch screens.  For a 32 inch the cab gets very wide I guess.

The unit on the right doesn't look very deep so even if you go a bit wider, I don't think it'll pose any door problems when moving it.

Blanka what are your base and control panel dimensions? Any stability issues? Im totally open to other ideas.

Just remember, that you dont want the monitor too close to your
eyes.   Probably want at least 2ft back from the control panel front,
depending on the monitor size.

Good point.  I'd even suggest further back than 2 ft if it's that big of a screen.  Test it out in front of the LCD and see what feels comfortable.

I use a 32" screen and agree, you want about 2' away.  Id suggest a showcase type setup with a screen that large.

This would be a very good place to start.  A French guy built a wooden Vewlix clone

Jack Burton, thanks for that link.

Both Retro Space & the Vewlix clone are both amazing.

Now if you will excuse me I have to go watch "Big Trouble in Little China".
