Lcd Top Gun Mounting: Horizontal or Vertical
« on: October 18, 2008, 12:37:46 pm »
I'm using a 27 inch WG monitor. I can't actually use the gun as my cp is currently missing (see other thread), but I wanted to see what the consensus was on mounting in your arcade cab.

Although horizontal would be arguably easier to conceal, I've found they do work better vertically.

I think they work equally bad both ways, however you can stand just a tad closer if you mount them horizontally

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

When I built my cab I did not foresee needing space for light bars. As a result they wasn't enough room for them my bezel and plexi. I ended up putting the bars behind my bezel running vertically on the sides of my monitor. I  then cut small slits in the bezel where the sensors are. I made sure that they were not obstructed. I haven't had a chance to test it out, but it looks really nice and you don't notice the holes in the bezel at all.

Horizontal: Will reduce your gameplay distance around half meter.
Under some distances is slighty apreciated. On a 27" inch I would go for Vertical Set up, You should play from 2,5 or 3 meters wich should not be a pain.

Vertical: It is simplest way to hook it. Also is the best way to know that you are inside a "playable" area, because the Bars are ON THE EDGES.

Enjoy your Topgun
