Shieldwolf:
What are the buttons used on games like street fighter called?

Are they ultimate push buttons
Are they competition push buttons
Are they push button Horizontals

Which ones do I want I guess is a better question same with joysticks

universal joystick
competition joystick
ultimate joystick
perfect 360

I do realize it probably is up to personal preference but how do i know
Nil8er:
All of the Street fighter machines that I have seen only use Horizontals(at least that is how they look from above).  SOme Neo-Geo machines used competition buttons.  The difference is that competition buttons are convex while the horizontals are concave.
I am using the competition joysticks for my Street fighter project.
Shieldwolf:
it's really hard to tell a difference in the joysticks. even in the pics.

From what I hear the P360 are the best, but they are expensive. I currently have 2 and am ordering 2 more for my 4 player panel. I plan to get the 4" wico ball-tops and replace the P360 shaft with the Wico ones, Oscar himself has said that this is awesome (Oscar I guess you can say is an elite member here, very informative!). As far as the buttons go...I forget lol sorry.

The pushbuttons were probably horizontal variety, which is the kind recommend here most often.  If it's a new new recent fighter it *may* have the competition pushbuttons which are convex instead of the classic concave style...

For fighting style ultimates/universal would be junk... (although there are some people who like ultimates with a stiffer spring -> I still say they are junk)

P360's are the best money can buy... literally.

Competition joys are what most fighter fans like because they can "feel" the corners with that square actuator better for more precise moves/blocking...

The supers are a good all around stick in a mediocre way (but they bite arse for 4 way...)

have you seen -> oscar's review? although I can't find his review of the p360's... hmmm...
