VHS/DVD combo machines

I have a bunch of family VHS tapes to transfer over to DVD and was wondering whether these VHS/DVD combination machines allow a person to insert/play a VHS tape and then record the content on a DVD disc at the same time? If this is possible then can anyone recommend a certain brand?
