Found this today. Not sure if it has been discussed. Yet another light gun solution that might work.

off hand I'd say this is more like a Gyration Air mouse and dosen't do absolute positional tracking.  They seem pretty proud that they don't require any sensor bars, which would be cool if it tracks exactly where you point it at the screen, but it just doesn't look like it works that way.   In the video's they aren't even facing the screen half the time...

Maybe there is more to this and it has features they don't go into on the website, I don't know.  It is also estimated that it will cost around $100, which is a bit salty if you ask me.  I did email them about the developers kit though.
