Momentary Contact Pushbutton and a Q
« on: June 04, 2003, 08:30:25 pm »
These are the things that I was looking for earlier (Motorfish's cab used them....sly dog). Are these the same as any pushbutton cause I was going to use them for emu buttons (pause, tab etc)? Basically small buttons eh? Thanks
Derek

Edit: One more thing then Ill shut up.....for now mawahahha anyways-> Motorfish also had the analog joystick of a pad such as this: http://www.ldlc-pro.be/print/PB00015180.html or imagine the analog part of a Playstation 2 pad (black nub). Okay how does one just use that little piece (mount it and have it work). More specifically how does one hack that.
Thanks again for your patience.
Derek

You need to hook that PS analog stick to an actual analog arcade stick. This is the only way to make it work this way properly. Analog arcade sticks are very rarely used and very expensive, so I doubt that anyone has really tried. I've thought of it but know that I'd have no use for the expensive joystick.

That's not what he's trying to do...  but it's not your fault... all the pics in Motorfishes project announcement post have gone fishing...

Motorfish gutted the joystick crash linked to and made a little "nub" (sorta like the trackpoint sticks on IBM notepads) for either navigating or playing the occasional analog game (I forget which) Was a pretty neat idea and execution of the idea by Motorfish (especially how it worked in his theme/art)

crash you can use any momentary pushbutton switch as "buttons" for functions on your cabinet.  I use a momentary pushbutton which is found in the doorbell asile of homedepot to switch on my ATX powersupply/PC/mobo in my cabinet...

Ok cool, thanks Rampy those momentary pushbuttons by Happs are slightly smaller and will look good in my cab (I really liked Motorfish's cab so I stole his ideas).

Does anyone have any info on how to do what myself and Rampy said above? It's a really good mouse alternative if you either don't want to use a trackball or have a mouse hidden in your cab.

Try Radioshack...I bought a bunch of these little mini 1/2" red square and round white momentary-contact buttons...they work great as just about anything.  Coin inserts....you name it.

I'll probably use these on the coctail for Insert Coin buttons....they take up basiically no real-estate..

Well...I suppose you could:

1) Buy a Playstation to USB adapter for $5.00 that supports analog mode

2) Hack out the gamepad (those are just little optical sticks I think, no pots in there) to support the analog features........

but i'm probably over-simplifying it...
