New project, as yet un-named (updates)

abzman2000:
I have a lock (only one, and it's temporary) so I will be attempting to install it within a few days.

I have decided that I will need cup holders on this cab, but no ordinary cup holders, dowels / rods coming up from the sides of the cp (I have not decided exactly where) to hold a max of 4 "ultimate gulps" from 7-11.  I have one, and so do just about all my friends ($1.25 for a 2 liter of slurpee, how much better can it get).  these mugs measure 5.5" in diameter, but the handles are hollow and have a hole in the bottom so I figure a rod for the handle requires less work than getting actual cup holders.

abzman2000:
the dimensions of this cab look an awful lot like The Simpsons arcade game without the cp box, the speaker holes match too.  does anyone know of a game that used a similar cab, but had the cp confined to the sides of the cab?

abzman2000:
I have the set of speakers that I am going to use, an altec lansing ACS-400 system.  I got them at a garage sale for $10 and I think they are... well I don't know what they are (there are 3 speakers in each satellite as well as a sub).
this explains it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ALTEC-LANSING-SURROUND-MULTIMEDIA-SPEAKER-SYSTEM-_W0QQitemZ190230513793QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0806191286r4430
If I can't figure out how to mount them discretely with the original holes only I may use my current computer speakers (altec lansing vs 2121 2.1 system) and use the acs-400 as my main speakers.

From now on I will be operating as if this cab was originally a simpsons cab since all aspects except the cp point to that.   it's not a simpson's cab, as the simpson's cab had a big box on it, and this one did not (have a look at a simpson's cab without the box on it)

I also may have been over-zealous with my choice of monitor, it's a gateway destination 27".  It takes vga input so I thought it was perfect but it may be too big, it was only $20 and I may build my first custom cab around it if it won't fit in the simpsons cab.

abzman2000:
ok, news: I have been sanding, lots, I'm almost done and I'll post pics when I get the oppurtunity to do so, I've also patched the notches cut into the sides right below the cp.  I'm wondering the best way to sand an inside corner, I'm thinking probably a piece of 2x4 wrapped in sandpaper to get in the corners.  Another thing, it's been so long since I've researched this, but how would I go about repairing water-damaged mdf? I was thinking that I might be able to saturate it with fiberglass resin and then it might be good, I'll do some more resarch on it and then get back on my gameplan, finish date set for May 1 (this cab is going to penguicon with me for my friend's room party)
