Small project: mame-ing my Capcom Impress

(1/2) > >>

Well, I've been doing some small wiring on my Impress. First up was the controls. I didn't want to re-wire everything so am using the existing wiring hooked up to a GPwiz. I'm having some issue here, as Windows sees the unit but keypresses aren't registered.

Just for fun, here's a picture of the monitor chassis. I was waiting on getting some torx bits to get into these parts, and I'm glad I did. Whereas initially I didn't think it was necessary, I found the chassis wasn't secured. It was screwed in - the screw lower-right - but there's a flange on the left the chassis fits under, and it was on top of it. The pcb had lifted or bent a little by the screw.

Ummon:
Next I'm wiring the monitor to the VGA port of the PC. I have this neat little deal that has a six-pin header on one end and a VGA port on the other.

Ummon:
And here are the rest.

Now, I'm having some trouble with the video. The color is great. But the image is garbled. JAMMA is composite sync....from the board, right? But from the PC it's not. I think this is where my problem is, yes?

*the first image is with the sync wire attached to the V pin; the second image is with the sync wire attached to the H/C pin. Also, I forgot to mention that I'm using Advancemame here on auto.
