Little update, guys: I've been calling my guy periodically to check on the status of my machine (given that his place is located over 100 miles away, it's difficult for me to go up and work on it, and he insisted that it work before I pay and take it).
His exact words were, "I said I'd sell you a WORKING donkey kong machine for $150, and I aim to keep my end of the deal."
So he's had his wiring/technician guy working on it here and there between their routes (they've been fixing up my machine in their spare time, more or less). Well, this week he said they're making it a priority to finish my machine. Sweet.
So I call the guy today, and he was actually working on it right then. He said "I've got everything up and running, and the tube on this monitor is in great condition. But the picture is just a little bit off kilter...so I think I'm going to need to replace the capacitors on the board before you take it...so if you can give me a day or two to get that done."
So the dude is re-capping the monitor, free of charge. And I don't know if I mentioned this previously, but he also re-conditioned the power supply...I'm not sure what he did, but I know that at first, it didn't work...so he dissassembled it, replaced a bunch of parts, reassembled it, and now it works great.
He also managed to get my 4-board DK PCB to work in the thing.
So when I get this thing, the only things I'm going to have to do are:
1) Change the DK JR marquee to a DK one (anyone have one of those lying around?).
2) Change the DK JR cp overlay to a DK overlay (ditto)
3) Get new T-molding.
4) Get new side art.
...excitement.
