Smaller cab for 20" monitor?

I have a 20" Sony monitor I was planning on using for my cab.  

I'm wondering if anyone has a smaller cab out there (standup, horizontal monitor design), that would kind of be "filled up" by a monitor of this size without huge gaps around the screen.  

Unfortunately the cabs I really like are made for 25" or 27" monitors, and this one wouldn't look right with those designs

Look for a caberet or mini style cabinet.  That might be up your alley.

You might want to double check on your cabinet dimensions. 19" arcade monitors are VERY common in standard sized cabinets (think most SFII cabinets etc). Also, most FREE/CHEAP cabinets will be ones that were set up with 19" cabinets. IIRC, 19"arcade ~= 21" computer because the arcade measures width across the frame, and computer measures diagonal across the screen.

As a general rule, most classic cabs use 19" monitors whereas newer ones use 25" monitors.

I have a full-sized cabinet with a 19" monitor and it looks good.

Some mini/cabaret use 19", but they usually use 13".

I have a 19" mini. If I ever got off my butt and got a protractor/compass (what IS the name of the plastic half moon looking thing that you use to measure angles?), I could measure it up and make some plans.

Ok long post.  I didn't really explain what I meant very well.

I know many older cabs used 19" monitors, but the design of those cabs (many of them anyways) is not what I like.  For example it was common in older cabs to have you look down at the monitor, i.e. the monitor layed more like a cocktail than vertical, which I don't like.  Also many control panels were clearly designed for 1 player only, and I need room for a SF2 style layout, with a center trackball.  That can be worked around with some woodwork, but many of them also have side panels that come out so far as to be less than ideal for 2 players to see at once

Cabarets are sweet but this will be heavily used for 2 player and I'm afraid there's not enough shoulder room with that layout  

What I really like are the modern cabs and also older cabs like Gauntlet and Simpsons where the monitor sits at around a 45 degree angle further from your face than the standard cabinet design (not big like a showcase cab though).  There's plenty of control panel room for 2 players, and also none of that "my head is stuck inside a box" feeling that some cabs give me.  

What I thought is maybe someone had made a slightly scaled down version of one of those cabs.  Probably not, but I'd like to see pics if so.  

Also are there are any sites with the measurements of a cab in that style?  Maybe I can mess with the dimensions and come up with something good.

You could still use one of the larger cabinets if you want. You can use artwork to make the illusion of a larger monitor. People have told me that this 21" computer monitor doesn't look out of place in this 25" dynamo cabinet. (To my face anyway )

go on www.klov.com and look up the Bad Dudes cabinet. That's what I've got. It meets all of your qualifications. Maybe the trackball will be tight but the control panel is 24" wide and (should) fit it.

That's what I'm using with my 19" monitor and it's really a pretty machine once any resemblance of Bad Dudes is removed from it.

(Don't get me wrong, though. I love the game and the machine was already gutted/converted to Batman when I got it.)

Dynamo Pedestal yes. It is listed in the Dynamo Cabinet manual I believe.

Ducktaless that dynamo cab is huge!  The bezel does make the screen look bigger though.  

That Bad Dudes style cab just might be what I am looking for.  I will definitely keep that in mind.  Thanks!
