I got my Suzos! :D
« on: February 22, 2008, 12:53:21 pm »
I still have to build the box, hack the pad, buy the buttons, etc, but, since this will be my new panel, I have time and patience. So, I had not tried the sticks yet with a good shmup or any other game with which precission is the key, but I guess they will perform even better than my currect T-stick. The throw is really impessive, very very short and the strenght to move the stick is slightly lighter than that of the T-stick. What's really great is that the stick stays very firmly in the center until you push it, so it doesn't swing at all (a problem that is present in my T-stick). I find this stick a little longer but I plan on installing it from beneath a 19mm mdf board, which will make it shorter. I don't know, however, how I will fix the problem of the visible hole (see the pic), since the stick is conceived to be installed on iron or any other thin material. Anyway, take a look and see how this stick looks and works. What could be better than a video to show you how they feel....?

A Suzo stick is a joy forever !

Dutch pride :)

There's only one better stick and that's the Suzo Inductive.

Enjoy !

wood 4mm + metal panel 2mm I use washer from crap KC-04:P

originally you need metal panel with hole about diameter 45mm.
but I do not like how joystick gets up high.
I command second way from your drawing add only new big washer from iL Eurojostick or Compact joystick. You can alone make new washer from CD box.

It's not difficult to fit them to wood panels. Route it out to amout 3mm thick, then use a hole saw to cut a perfect round hole for that recess. They are incredibly sturdy sticks and have survived longer over the years in British arcades than any of those 'long-throw' sticks!

I love your panel Kowal. That's more or less what I've planed for mine. I don't want to use artwork, but a textured surface like the one you used. What is it, paint or any kind of textured vinyl? I see you're using a replacement shaft. Unfortunatelly I have not access to that here in Europe. Anyway I don't like the idea of disassembling the stick so I think I'll use a hand-made washer cut in the half which I'll install glueing the two pieces one the stick is installed. If I'm carefull the result will be acceptable.

I've disassembled one of my sticks, but I cannot remove the e-clip. Reading the post that you kindly linked I've found out that you need a special tool for this kind of clip. I'm a little afraid of breaking it. I think that, at the moment, I'm going to try the other way: install the stick and then the washer in two pieces. If I see that the result suck then I'll try removing the clip. Thanx a lot for the links.

I took the stick to a hardware store and they were so kind to release the damned clip for me. They had the right tool and I didn't had to buy it. :) Now I'm waiting for Industrias Lorenzo to answer. I'd like to know if they can send some washers. If they don't sell these parts separatelly, I'll take it from a crappy mando compacto (Happ's super joystick) of a friend of mine.

hehe, thanx for the tip, but it would be really funny pay 2$ for the 'disc' and 100$ or more for the shipping to Spain :D No problem: as I said a friend of mine is gonna sacrifice one of his old sticks for this.

PD: taking a look at the picture... I want that texture for the surface of my CP! There must be some kind of paing with texture effect... I guess.

These are the plans for my panel. I don't know if I will use smaller buttons for coin, start and service functions, if I find models which look and feel right. I will use 19mm DM, and 16mm DM for the top panel. The base will be 2mm iron.

Yeah, I'm quite sure that sending an envelope with 2 or 3 of these (that weigh close to nothing) will cost mre than about 3 bucks in shipping....anway you've already found a better solution....

I wanted to buy in IL joysticks. I asked about cost 10 and 100 q. Price was 1,5 larger x than on Happ with tax 2x higher. This completely idiotic!
HAPP buys from iL->Suzo buys from HAPP and it  went out me 2x cheap. these joysticks 2x surrounded world! and are 2x cheaper - This completely idiotic!

Can someone who has an inductive stick give a mini review of it here? I found one on ebay, but I have not mounted it yet. I am really not even sure how to hook it up. I can search later if no one responds, but I thought I would ask since it was mentioned in this thread.

Thanks,
Paul
