Windows touch screen games
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:02:41 pm »
So I have the touch screen jukebox completed and it has been a blast at all the football parties and on New Years.  Just looking for more ways to use it though.  Anyone recommend Windows games that will play great using only the touchscreen?  I do have a Megatouch on the bar, but it would be cool to add some touch gaming functionality to the jukebox also.

I haven't tried them on a touchscreen yet.... but I like these and thought they might work well. I hadn't messed with them in awhile though, so just going from memory.

I pointed out the slots games, but check out the rest as well.

The pattern-matching puzzle game Triad is a good touchscreen game:

It's one computer adaptation of the card game "set":

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into those games.  I didn't realize the touchmaster games worked in mame, so I'll check those out as well.

When you start them they will say no touchscreen controller found. This is the emulated touchscreen and not your actual touchscreen. If you have mouse input enabled for those games you will be good to go with them.

What issues are you having? They work fine for me running the latest mame32.

ok, i got the latest mame32 and it is working.  However, how the hell do you click on anything.  I do have a touchscreen but haven't gotten home yet.  But I did enable mouse input and can move the cursor around, but i can't start any games.  It just keeps changing from the main screen to the game screen.

Well you have to coin up like you do on anything in mame. Also the latest version emulated in mame 4000 if i rember right doesn't work. The other ones work after a fasion i think 3000 is the most responsive. YMMV

The games aren't recognizing the touch, I have the mouse enabled option checked.  It puts the crosshairs on the screen, but it doesn't recognize me touching the screen.  when i minimize mame, and touch the screen it works.  Didn't know if there was another way.

Well if your touchscreen works as mouse clicks as most of them do it should work. Check if the games work with a mouse click.

The games does work with the mouse clicks.  Is there an option to enable multiple mice?  Not sure what else to do.

Anyone recommend Windows games that will play great using only the touchscreen?

You might also want to check out the other windows "puzzle" games that may work well with a touchscreen, like Bejeweled, Qbeez, Glinx, etc.  You can download demo versions of most of these to see how well the interface works.

If you have enabled mice input ont he game try making sure the joystick input is disabled, failing that i don't really know what to say it works fine on my touchscreen and i know others have used them too.

Another musical based game could been ClickBeat (http://www.thephorse.net/beatclick/news/), which only use left mouse button. ETC should work very good with touchscreen.

I do got released two tunes to that game.
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

Like a "virtual keyboard" ?

XP has a built in version. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/accessibility/oskturnonuse.mspx

I've started looking around for touchscreen games for younger kids.
