New game room
« on: October 03, 2009, 04:00:19 pm »
After 12 years in our first house, we're taking advantage of the current housing market and upgrading. Requirement #1 was a big game room. Here it is. Arcade downstairs, pool room upstairs. Time to go on a game buying spree! And the carport will eventually be enclosed to give me a 3rd garage bay/shop... or if my addiction gets the best of me it might end up with more arcade games in it! ;D

I'm not gettin the layout or somethin. Looks like attic upstairs, and basement downstairs. Is there some living quarters section in the middle?

Thought that too. Looks very nice. What does a home like that cost ? (PM me if you want to keep it private).

Ummon, it went completely over your head. That is the GAME ROOM! Living quarters are not in there; they're in the house (not pictured obviously)!

Congrats

Looks like a great space. I wish I had room on my lot to built an outbuilding like that, but I guess that'll have to wait till the next house

Nice!

I've spent much of the weekend reorganizing, moving summer stuff inside, racking, stacking and generally shuffling things around (I have to find *some* way to get that Cheyenne cab inside before the weather turns) and I would LOVE to have a separate building for my game stuff.

More importantly, Mrs. Cheffo would LOVE to have a separate building for both me and my game stuff!

Nicely done -- congrats!

You'll definitely get an invite. :) Can't say how soon it will be though. It would be really nice to get a few more cabs before then if possible.

Oh. Game room to me means a room. Arcade can be a room, but can also mean a building.

If game room means a room, then this is a game room (and building). You're implying because it's in a separate room it shouldn't be called a game room. ??? :dunno

Really depends on where he lives but I can tell you I couldn't afford anything remotely close to that where I am.

Cheffo!  You haven't got that thing indoors yet??  I suppose that is sore spot with Mrs. Cheffo, so compromise is a good option!

Believe me, the closing date can't come soon enough! It's going to be really fun filling that place up with arcade games (and a couple pins). Decorating it to the hilt is definitely in the plans as well.

One of our local gameroom guys has a gameroom loft in his garage. It is awesome, but be sure of one thing before putting games in the 2nd story - make sure the floor framing is strong enough!
He had to install a beam under the main chunk of games before this past game night.

Not just the games... account for the games AND a whole bunch of people.  Even just 5 people can be 1000lb standing right next to your games.

My wife has a friend who has a building like that. In the upstairs they have a pool table and a really huge bar. They kind of have it looking like a biker bar up there actually.... anyway, don't forget to add a bar in the upstairs! It looks great and I agree with you about enclosing the carport.

Thanks for the suggestion about weight... we will definitely investigate determining what kind of weight rating there is. As for the bar, it would be a waste of space. We're not really drinkers - I have maybe a couple of drinks a year.

Hey, like folk.

arcade/room: I'm jus sayin what I think of.

I wonder sometimes about the apartment above mine - the ceiling creaks and clumps when people walk normal up there.

I didn't think about it until later, but see the 2 supporting posts and the big beam on top of them? I don't think weight will be an issue. :afro:
