Affordable media blasting and powdercoating

I've started a small scale media blasting and powdercoating business.  I figured I'd post up here especially for you guys that are doing restorations.  I can do anything that's up to 16"x10".

For those of you that don't know, powdercoating is a process of electrostatically applying plastic to a part.  This is way better than paint because it can take a ton of abuse, won't fade like paint and it'll pretty much always stay shiny (if the color is gloss).  Cleanup is easy too, you just use a moist towel or something and the dirt will come right off. 

For the first few people, I'd be willing to do this VERY cheaply so I can build up a gallery of arcade parts I've done.  If interested or you've got more questions, post here or feel free to PM me.

Can you provide some pricing information?  Shortly THISOLDGAME will be offering silk-screening to Asteroids control panels and I am sure there will be many people interested in getting their control panels stripped and powder coated then sent to ThisOldGame to be silk-screened.

Nope   Media blasting means I can shoot almost any blast media at something.  Walnut shells (don't do a good job), coal slag, glass (gives the best finish IMO), aluminum oxide, etc.

Blasting sand really isn't sand, it's something else.  Beach or play sand is made mostly of silica and when fragmented gets airborne really easily.  Once inhaled, it'll never come out of your lungs and causes Silicosis.

I'm in Atlanta, GA.  I'd have to come up with prices for arcade stuff as I've not done any yet, just car parts.  Like I said, the first bunch of unique items will get VERY special pricing as they'll be the guinea pigs and will help me baseline my product costs and times.

As the old saying goes, I do things any two of these three ways:
cheap, fast, good

I media blasted my midway coin door after I bent it back

not sure how im going to coat it

do you metal prep before powder coating   hate to see rust come back under the coating
woudlnt it eventually make it peel off ?

I've had the metal parts of my Galaxian blasted (only to finish my sanding) and powder coated. It looks very good and I bet it will survive me

I payed €75,- for a range of metal parts (marquee retainers for Galaxian and Mario Bros., Galaxian CP, some other metal strips from MB., Coindoor of the MB., a lot of very small parts (Galaxian joystick etc.). As long as it was in 1 color, it went all for the same price.

That meant I had to pay €75,- for the coin door separately... since that was gray

I'm not sure if many of us want to send often pretty rare metal parts long distance for this. I personally would prefer a local coater even if it meant a little more money...that isn't saying that your services would not help some people here !

You should hook up with RAM Controls. He's having powder coating issues that he can't resolve for his Repro Star Wars Yokes.

Maybe this would bring that project back to life?

OK, quadmasta... perhaps I'll give it a shot... I have my Star Wars yoke dismantled and already bead-blasted (however you should go over it again if you think it needs it).  There are two handles, each with two halves.  The handles are cast Aluminum, I believe.  Then there are two housings made out of 11 gauge steel.  If you look at the last photo on this page:

... you'll get an idea of how they'll look when you get them.  PM me a quote for this work and what the turnaround time would be.  I would want them all flat black.

Could you PM me a price for some speaker covers?  I have two covers from a 33" style arcade which I will have to measure but I think they are bigger than 16" tall.  I do have a subwoofer cover that I would like done as well.  I am looking for a chrome finsih or something metalic.  Thanks

Ok, the sub cover is 12 inchs at the widest part and the other covers are about 28 inches long.
