SDL-specific fixes:
- Debuggers on Mac and Linux fixed for i960 targets (Ernesto Corvi)
- Fix for a crash on NetBSD (Juergen Buchmueller)
If you're looking to pass this up for some reason, there's some core fixes you really must see:
- MIPS DRC for x86-64, so 64-bit machines can play Killer Instinct fast again
- Greatly improved Namco System 21 3D (that's Starblade, Air Combat, Solvalou, and Cyber Sled).
- Greatly improved Sega Model 2 3D (that's Daytona USA, Virtua Cop, and Gunblade NY to name a few)
Smoke tested on Fedora 7 (x86-64), Mac OS X 10.4.10 (PowerPC and Intel), and Windows XP Pro SP2.

Major Rock Hardy:
Has anyone played around with running SDLMAME under Linux, using X, using a modeline for an arcade monitor? OK, how about multiple modelines for WG D9200/Betson/Billabs multi-res arcade monitors? Seems like it should work, but maybe I'm missing something. This would add some processing load (due to X running) over advancemame but it would open the doors to (better) frontends that require X.
beernut:
Try using the switchres option in your mame.ini. It should automatically switch the resolution to the closest one.
Here is a post on the sdlmame forums with a bunch of modelines

If they fry your monitor then it wasn't my idea.

Just found a potentially great resource for generating modelines for linux.

Try it out and let us know.

Hey Mark. Thanks for this - I remember Desmatic posted about this a while back. I have been meaning to try it. So do YOU use sdlmame on X with an arcade monitor?
Thanks for the links,
MRH
