Maybe, maybe not.  He's trying to be the voice of reason in terms of temperance.  Sure, we all know the stuff is pretty bad, but then look at the PETA idiots running around demanding he get the death penalty.  That is just as unreasonable.  It's not going to be a popular position, of course, but Sanders seems to be trying it anyway.  He is supposedly a man of God, remember.

Do you really think the PETA police are going to make that distinction? 

It wouldn't surprise me if we eat the males - we have to keep females around to reproduce and make eggs to eat.  You need a whole group of females for that but only one male.
