Stun Runner yoke springs

Wolfman:

As you probably know, the Stun Runner yoke tilts only down. This is because it has only 1 spring for the y-axis, compared to 2 springs in the Star Wars yoke. My question is, where can I find the other spring to turn this into a SW yoke? The internals are indentical in every other aspect. Thanks in advance.

Wolfman:

Also, if anybody has any ideas on how I could connect the yoke to my computer, I'd like to hear them. Keep in mind that I need high accuracy with this yoke, so any spiking or jittering is a no-go.

Hey wolfman, the most popular way to hook them up is via USB microsofts dual strike controller hack... (courtesy of 1up's legwork)  1ups sw yoke dual strike hack page  OSCAR's SW yoke hack pictures

Alternatively you can replace the POTS in the controller with 100k variety and wire them directly to you gameport...

more linkage coming shortly ->BAM SW gameport hack page

EDIT: but I've got no love on the spring thing for you... if you search this forum for yoke you'll find tons of discussion on repairing yokes, building your own yokes, etc... from which maybe something can be applied to your situation... I haven't opened up my star wars yoke yet, so I cant give you an inside scoop at the moment...

Wolfman:

Thanks for the quick reply rampy. How accurate is the yoke with the Dual Strike hack?

I don't know yet although I have a dual strike waiting in the wings =P The thing that makes the dual strike such a good candidate is that it uses 5k pots, which is the same as what's in the SW/stunn runner yoke...

I reckon it feels just like the real deal... what's good enough for 1up is more than good enough for me..,.  I played around with the dual strike briefly when it arrived from e-bay and it worked decently by itself for MAME star wars (although If i remember correctly you are going for more of a bradley battlezone simulator type feel or am I confused)

*shrug* so yeah... electronically it's supposed to work great and I haven't heard anyone whose done the hack come back to the forum and say it stinks or anything ... maybe someone whose done their hack already can give it the thumbs up or not...

good luck,
