SNK LS-30 Optical

Aceldamor:

They don't click, they freely spin....and the top looks like the standard LS-30 Yellow Octagonal knob.

Were you able to see the letters on the black plastic below each pin?

OSCAR:

Hmmm, those look very proprietary by the style of the friction lock and may not follow the "standard" 4-pin optic pinout such as found on the Happ optic board.  You wouldn't happen to know which game they were originally for, would you?  If you could track that down (perhaps use RGVAC as another resource as well), then see if KLOV or http://www.spies.com/~arcade/ happens to have a technical manual for that game.

Aceldamor:

They came out of a Cal .50 Arcade.

This is what KLOV said

"The joysticks look similar to the LS-30 variety used for games such as Ikari Warriors, Heavy Barrel, and Time Soldiers, but they are different. The Loop-24 joysticks have a four-pin connector on the bottom of the stick that connects directly to the game board."

OSCAR:

I tried a quickie search of the more popular manual archives and I didn't turn up a manual for Cal .50.

Another possible resource may be to search www.vaps.org and see if a member that has that game could help you out.  Worth a try, I guess.

Aceldamor:

Well, after searching for a couple of hours last night and not finding anything about a schematic for Cal .50  I decided to dissassemble the interface....which in the process I now have to re-solder a connection or 2 :-[ >:(

From the look of it.  It's possible that the first and last pin are connected to 2 what look like LED emitters through a 100 spoke wheel to the other side which I couldn't see.

so...it looks like the pinout could possibly be

from left to right with pins facing up:  (see pictures in previous post.)

Pin 1 Output A
Pin 2 Prob +5
Pin 3 Prob Ground
Pin 4 Output B

Pin 2 and 3 may be reversed.....not sure.

I could post pics of the dissassembled interface later on when I get home if anyone is still interested.
