I'll have those MFG aluminum plates up on my site later in the week
the arts vectorized and the materials cut, just need to squeeze in some screen time.
so keep checking back in at the site they will be on the home page when ready
GAME ON!

Thanks for your reply Audiomidiman, but two things:
1) As horseboy already mentioned, indeed in the first place I'm looking for that manufacturer's back plate.
2) About the coin door plates: I actualy already have one from www.arcadeshop.com and it's on my machine now. It's ok, quality is ok, but there are some things that could be better. I mentioned this in my Galaxian No.815 thread. Check it out here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62784.msg656196#msg656196

Since I've got my CPO from Rich, I am 100% convinced of the quality he makes. Since he's doing silk screening VERY precisely and also does it on REAL metal, I'm pretty sure the plates will turn out great.

We've discussed doing the coin door plates as well. I hope Rich will manage to squeeze these into his program as well :D

Rich, great news about the plates !!!

I still haven't ordered mine yet, and would much prefer one on metal as well.  If you make one, mind as well go for two!  Let me know and I'm in.

How bout some progress on the Burgertime Rich?  I just picked mine up last week.  It will need a CPO, but the art is in great shape otherwise.  I'm looking forward to seeing how your stencil job turns out.

Later,

Well... my wife just discovered Burgertime and is now hooked.  Bust-a-Move just dropped down to #2 on her list.

Anyway, how rare is it to find an old Burgertime cabinet to restore?  I have been to a lot of places selling old cabinets and have never come across one.  I would love to bring one of these back to it's original condition.

They aren't terribly common, although I couldn't give exact production numbers.

Ebay and craigslist. I have only seen a couple here and there in the last 5 or so years. People usually don't part with them.

at around 22,000 (midway version)
hard to say how many are still out there :dunno
this one was a converted game and seller wasnt aware of its orginal orgins
but the cabinet shape gave it away.
Havnt seen many since. even the working boardsets are hard to come by
I could post up some cabinet dementions for this one
and even provide cnc router files if youd like a build project.

Thanks, but I think this one is beyond my ability.

Your project looks great though.  Here's to you...

Let's hope I can find a cab and use those stencils some day.

P.S. - how are you at the game?  I cant get past L3.  Damn, I need a level by level strategy.

Yeah, I played BT a LOT. I especialy went to a cinema (Luxor) in Rotterdam to play it. We had no arcades in the big cities in the 80s. I'm pretty sure that it was a generic cab and not the "real" one. I must have remembered it.

Looking at the cab, isn't this basicaly a Ms.Pac/Galaga with different sides ?
I'm not saying to destroy a Ms.Pac/Galaga but if you already got both of these, it would be a possibility to replace only the sides......

yes it's the same, and there's some people converting BT to Ms.Pac/Galaga using saw

anyway the problem still the same Ms.Pac and Galag are as rare as Burgertime, if I find one of the 3 here (but I suspect I will not  :banghead:) I won't convert it, just restore it :D :D

Glad to see Zorg hosting these :) As an FYI though, anytime someone needs space to host BYOAC style projects, unless there are copyright concerns, the answer is most likely yes :)  I have tons of space and plenty of available bandwidth.

Cheers!

I too express thanks for the dxfs.  Does anyone with a burgertime know if the parts were dadod together or was the cab assembled by blocks?  If it's dado construction I want to adjust everything to take those into account if at all possible.

Thanks!

good question
Im pretty sure its block and nails as there were several finish type nails that had been puttied over on the front and sides. after I stripped it down.
I'll take another look inside and post some raw cabinet pics of the insides
