The depth doesn't really matter. All slot cutters cut that deep. Everyone's is like that.

My turn. Where did you get a 1/16" slot cutting bit?

Picked it up at Atlas Hardware - downtown Toronto on Queen Street.  Not too far from where I work.  It took them a while to figure out what I wanted and find it - but were finally able to put it together.  Cost something like CDN $25 or $30.

will 1/16th work?
at tmold.com, the 5/8ths t-mold shows a 7/64 slot
and 3/4" t-mold shows a 3/32nd slot...
(Just something to be aware of..)

but hey, if it's too tight to hammer in, I guess you can just raise the bit 1/32 and make another pass.. :)

The dimensions on t-molding.com show the uncompressed spline width.  The "barbs" on the spline compress to hold the t-molding in the slot.  I used a 1/16" slot cutter to install 3/4" t-molding I purchased from t-molding.com and it makes for a nice and tight fit.  If you paint after you cut the slot, you will probably have to go back and clean up the slot with a razor knife or something similiar.  To make the installation a bit easier, I actually "V" the entrance of the slot with a razor knife.  This helps keep the spline from folding over when you hammer it in.

I was thinking starburst but I've had way too many problems with this outfit to recommend them. What has your experience been with them?

I just went to Starburst today to pick up my $500+ happ order from last week, no problems....I called in and gave some catalog numbers (4 player coin door, trackball, 2 rotary sticks (heh), and whatever else I forget now...

I went in and while I was there I got the odds & ends....some happ buttons, CANADIAN coin mechs (have to Ebay the U.S. ones I have)...and I should have asked about Tmolding while I was there...never thought to ask....

But I need a router bit too...and I doubt they'd have that.

But I had no problem with them, they called me a week after the order to say it was in, I didn't have to chase them around at all.

They're open mon-fri  until 5:30, no weekends.
