 ???
Anyone know how I could cut piano hings?
Snif?  ???
Any other solution anyone?
I hear there are jigsaw blade that I could use.Anyone ever tried jigsaw for metal cutting?
Thanks in advance for any help ;D.
Yes I have this piano hing thats 40" and I only need like 26".

Also,never routed 5/8 wood.what size sloting bit do I use...1/16?
Just wanted to make sure..since the wood is thin..

OSCAR:

With a metal cutting blade, a jigsaw will work perfect.  Don't use a wood blade, though, or it will be a rough way to go.  A metal cutting blade will be somewhere around 32TPI, I think.  Mine isn't handy at the moment, but I'm sure someone else can say for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking jigsaw would be the way to go there.  Tin snips would also be a simple way to do it, but it would probably be a pretty ugly cut.

Brax:

Hacksaw and a file to clean it up after.

I'd be afraid a jigsaw blade would break and take your hand off!

It'll take about 6 firm strokes with a hacksaw to get through a piano hinge. Piece of cake.

I used a 1/8" slot cutting bit for my t-moulding in 5/8" wood and it worked fine. (hotglue to keep it in place) A 1/16" bit is optimum and it'll be plenty strong. No worries.
