shardian:
FYI, Sears will have a 10" laser guided sliding compound miter saw on sale for $189 on the day after thanksgiving (Black Friday).

ChadTower:

Ooh, are the black friday details coming out already?  Where?

Cool.  I'm thinking about replacing my TV this year.

Would this be a good beginner router?

Thanks!

Probably not... it didn't have many details, but it looks like it would only handle a 1/4 inch bit, and it's only 1.5 HP. A router is INCREDILY versitile with the right accessories so if you'll be doing more than one project you'll find many many uses for it. With that in mind, the ability to use 1/2" bits, variable speed and some decent power will help.

All that being said, if you get into woodworking, you won't have "wasted" money on any router you buy. I have an old Crapsman 1/4", single speed fixed base router that I still use to trim edgebanding with. I have it permenantly mounted in a jig just for doing that. If I found another at a yardsale cheap I'd buy it too... LOL. (Set it up for dovetails and lock in the settings and never touch it so it would always be ready to go.)

My name is Troy, and I am a router addict....
