X-ARCADE BUTTONS VS. SOMETHING FROM HAPP...
« on: April 06, 2003, 07:11:09 am »
I noticed on ebay that X-ARCADE sells 20 buttons for 9.99 in kit form.    Does anyone have any experience with the buttons that X-ARCADE sells as opposed to something HAPP sells, like the ULTIMATE PUSHBUTTON or something.

I didnt think 10.00 for 20 buttons looked to bad, but i dont want to get something then find out they suck.

Whats the word on the street........???  :o

I like the x-gaming stuff, it is good. Not everyone likes it like me, but I have never heard anyone say anything eally bad about them.

The buttons and joys are really really tinny (tin sounding, not small)

X-Arcade buttons have a threaded portion that is 1 inch in length.  The same horiz button from Happs has a threaded portion that is 1 1/8 inch.  This can make a difference if you are planning to add plexi or lucite over your CP.  The x-Arcade buttons are good for 3/4 inch which would be 5/8 plus 1/8 plexi.  With the Happs button you can use the 1/8 plexi over a 3/4 CP.

Switches are X-Gaming brand on the X-Arcade buttons.

Overall they work fine for me.

they are great except they suck if you have a panel thats 3/4 wood and a plexi glass(buttons too short) but other then that they work great !(IMHO).  :)

I had the same problem, I tried to put the X- buttons in my cab and the threads were not long enough. I found that if I filipped the nut around, I cound get somewhat of a bite. Be warned that the joysticks are extra short. don't even think about puting them in a control panel unless the wood is 1/2" thick MAX.

I have the joysticks in a 3/4" setup without issue...  they seem to be the appropriate height (installed) they are the same or pretty close to super's dimensions, aren't they?   *shrug*

The joysticks/buttons aren't awesome/perfect, but they are an excellent value when getting the ebay 20 bucks deal...  but the 1/2" thing is just daft...  so if you're piss broke and not exceeding a 3/4" thick CP in total thickness they are a good way to go (And you like a monochromatic color scheme =P )

although the better (and more color options) happs horizontals buttons are currently on sale for $.99 which is a fair price...

what info do you need/want ?   I don't think x-arcade posts much info on these standalone components.... except to detail their inclusioin in their main products.

I hadn't seen one =P  But I wonder why you'd need one.  As long as you understand  that:

A. the joysticks are similiar in feel/design to a happs super
B. The buttons are a little short with max 3/4" thick cp  mounting
C.  They are super reasonably priced
D.   They are a little cheezier/chinsier, yet are still "arcade quality"    but should be fine in a home environment.   think of them as k-mart or walmart brand with happs being nikes... =P

If you have decided on all black, cheap, and supers-esque style joysticks on a 3/4" or less CP ...there's not much more to research.

The big selling factor is that they are the cheapest option out there... they aren't the best... but they are perfectly usable.

I will try and find a review(s) on the standard x-arcade unit which uses the same sticks and buttons to see if they compared 'em to regular happs sticks/buttons.... and post 'em here for ya... unless someone beats me to it.
