MaLa Ledwiz help please!

I am having problems getting the ledwiz to work, I can't.  I downloaded it the mala site both files and I can open it up and save the setting fine but no lights work.  I know the lights work because I tried it out with powermame.  I am testing this using my laptop with one ledwiz pluged in.  I have downloaded mame32b and set mala to use that and everything.  All I want for now is to have all the lights set to blue.  Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

mame32b .111u3
ledwiz ID 1
both plugins off the mala site (ledwiz plugin and ledwizard)

The MaLa Plug-in uses RandyT's OCX.

This OCX installer is included in the plug-in package.

1) Did you install the OCX?
2) Did you point MaLa to your controls.ini file.?

If you are still having issues I will e-mail you a test app or something

thanks, if its an exe file you might have to rename it and send it again, gmail doesn't like exe files

I've never used mala (yet!) but is it because you are using mame32 and not mame?  Does this matter to mala?  Just a thought...

yup, they work.  So what am I doing wrong??  Why won't they work in MaLA?

and I am using version 1.1, its says this when I open it up but the file still says 1.0 if that matters

Your ledwiz settings should be saved as ledwiz.cfg (not .txt)... and saved in the same directory as your mala ledwiz plugin.  Is that the way you have it?

Yeah Good point.  Even if that is not squirrelly's problem I should add an error message if the cfg.file is not found where it is supposed to be don't you think? I will look at that

And sure enough you seem to be on the money Edge

If the cfg file is not at expected location nothing happens, I just tested it.

I will add an error message.

squirrellydw if you don't have any luck I can e-mail you a special version of the plug-in that will have an error message that will indicate where it is looking for the cfg file (if not found).  It also does a short random led sequence when you launch mala to prove you Ledwiz(s) are working and the Plug-in is talking to it.

Yeah, it is named ledwiz.cfg and it is in the mala ledwiz plugin directory.  I only renamed it .txt to upload it.

UPDATE!!!   

I have it working now, I moved the ledwiz.cfg file into the plugin folder and not the MaLa LEDWiz Plugin v1.0 folder.  I think I was miss understanding what you said above

This is where I had it
C:\Downloads\MaLa v1.0 RC8\plugins\MaLa LEDWiz Plugin v1.0

and this is where it is now
C:\Downloads\MaLa v1.0 RC8\plugins

I think the problem was that I had everything in a folder with in the plugins folder.  Now I have the .cfg file and the .exe file right in the plugins folder and NOT the MaLa LEDWiz plugin v1.0 folder.

Now that I have it working I have a couple requests for version 2

1. I think it would be great if you could set all the buttons at once to a certain color.  So if I want all my buttons blue except my coin and admin buttons I just click a button and everything is set blue then I just change my other buttons to whatever.

2. Be able to change the setting from within the MaLa options so you don't have to exit out of MaLa.

3. Anyway of having it update "LIVE", so when you change something you see it right away?

4. Built in attract mode, either some already configured to run or some you can add yourself.

5. Of course the button speech.

6. What does MaLa stand for anyhow??

Just some suggestions, I am sure not all can or will be done.  Just want to thank you all for such great work.  I am glad I tried MaLa out and that you have the LEDWiz plugin.

Great News. I have added the error message to V2. This will avoid directory issues for future users.

Background:
At the moment EDGE is coding the Config Maker (Led-Wizard) and I hold the actual Led-Wiz Plug-in code (that reads the config file) and have added little things for V2 since Master Swindus created it.

Sorry. A downfall of the Plug-In system as the settings are read on MaLa start. FYI with MaLa hardware you can adjust within MaLa itself (I use that)
Maybe Edge could have a demo in his Set-up prog to show you how it will look before you start MaLa?

Glad you got it working, squirrelly...

As loadman said, version 2 is in the works, so adding these should be doable.... I like the idea of a LIVE test.  I will check these out this week and report back.

UPDATE!!  I bought a USB hub so I can test both now    I needed one anyhow, I am going to have like 10 USB devises in my cocktail table.

If I were you I would use a powered hub. You don't want to kill something on your motherboard..
