I know i've posted before, but i just built a new control panel, so here we go again:
i built a new box for underneath it as well, since my last one was really crappy..(i had hardly any tools when i built it)
it is still all black, i like to keep things simple, this makes it a little hard to photograph, but in person, it is very glossy looking. i spray painted the back side of the plexiglass black, which has a nice look to it. I had been wanting to get rid of the x-arcade stuff i had been using, so i figured if i was going to do it, i might as well go all out and get the good stuff..
Two Ultimarc U360 joysticks, with longer bat top shafts and medium springs. bottom mounted under 5/8" mdf and 1/8" plexiglass.
Utrak trackball with RGB LED kit, connected to an OptiWiz controller from Groovygamegear. ( i needed mouse button support, which the ultimarc usb adaptor lacks)
happ concave pushbuttons, two novagem pushbuttons, blue is exit, yellow is pause. the yellow novagem was not really yellow when illuminated..it was much more amber..almost orange... this didn't work well with my color scheme. it looked yellow when not lit however, so i removed the yellow LED, and installed a white LED i got from a cheap LED keychain flashlight at walmart. it isn't quite as bright as the blue one, but at least it is still yellow when lit. i emailed RandyT about possibly making the yellow novagems available with white LEDs, but i havent gotten a response yet. the next time i need to order from GGG, i'll get some of those bright white LEDS that he sells, which should make it closer in brightness to the blue one.
