Mala gamelist question...

(1/2) > >>

EnderWiggen22:
The main mame list comes up with 6000+ games, when my rom directory only has about 100. Also, none of the games launch (even the ones that I have in the directory). All that happens when I try to launch a game, is the command prompt flashes for half a second and then dissapears. Anyone ever faced this or know how to fix it?

:hissy: (just one problem followed by another...)

EnderWiggen22:
ok. Still having the problem with the main game list (aka still need some help there), but I've got a little more info on why the roms aren't launching. I tried to run a few directly from the command promt and it would tell me:

"Proposed video mode not supported on device \\.\DISPLAY1
Unable to initialize Direct3D.
osd_init failed"

I'm not too sure what all this means, but I do have directx 9.0c installed. Any suggestions?  ???

EnderWiggen22:
I guess this ended up being more like 2 questions:

1) why did mala create a gamelist with all the games that ever existed instead of the ones in my rom directory. I guess I could create my own list, but that would take much longer...

2) why won't my roms run. I tested my direct3d in "dxdiag" through the cmd and all 3 tests worked fine. My guess now is there must be some kind of setting in Mame that is screwing me up. As of now, I can't find it, and I'm going to have to go post somewhere else to get a response.  :dunno

swindus:
1) Please tell MaLa where your roms are. Enter the path to your roms in the options dialog and then mark the collecting option 'only games with rom'.

Mame video settings are in the mame.ini file.

Try turning a few things off to emliminate problem...

And yes keep launching your game(s) from the command prompt until you solve that problem
