Questions regarding various Smartstrip models
« on: September 28, 2006, 09:45:03 pm »
I logged on to Bits Ltd today and am finally ready to dish out the coinage to buy one of these puppies. Which model are people using these days? I especially interested in model   Model #LTG1 With Time Delayed Outlets.
This particular model is interesting as it has a built in delay should be a simple solution for eliminating the dreaded bios boot screen. Is anyone using this model?
My cab consists of PC, Creative Labs speakers, 22" florescent marquee light, and Betson Kortek Multisync. Not sure if this matters, but I do see that some of them list specifically for computers or as in the LCG4 computers/entertainment centers.

You're not supposed to turn off your computer at the powerstrip. You need to leave it plugged in or the cmos battery will go dead.  They are rechargeable things nowadays.

Gambit, the smartstrips work differently.  You plug your computer into the control outlet (which stays hot).  The smartstrip then senses when the computer is on and turns on the other outlets.

In fact is true the opposite, OLD CMOS batteries (pre  Pentium II technology) were rechargeable but nowadays every cmos battery is a CR 2026 or 2032 (don't remember the exact model)  type  this kind of battery lasts about 5 years so most of the people thinks that is rechargeable since in mostly of the cases the battery will outlast the PC that in the meantime has become obsolete.

Thanks guys. Yea my question is how well does the time delay work and if this model is sensitive enough to engage the Betson Kortek.

Well I ordered this puppy although it hasn't arrived yet. Today I noticed that they updated it's description with this, "does not have current sensing capability". Now I'm nervous that some of my items may not power up. Does anyone out there have this particular model? Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
