FS: Mame cab in Cincinnati area - pickup only.
« on: June 07, 2006, 02:11:09 pm »
NOTE: I got permission from Peale to post this here, he will move to Buy/Sell/Trade.

Built this cab, found I enjoyed building it more than playing with it.  As such, I'm looking to sell it.  I'm looking for $500 for it.  I'm located in Northern Kentucky (about 20 minutes south of Cincinnati, OH).

Construction/component information below pictures.
If you have any additional questions, please contact me - I'll be more than happy to answer them.

A brief overview of the components:

Cab is builts from 3/4" MDO, using the Ultimate arcade plans, widened to fit the TV inside.
Outside is painted in oil-based paint (does have a few scratches on it.
Trimmed in silver edging (hot glued- some parts could probably afford to be reglued).
The control panel is removable, and is held in place by two latch locks.
It has 4 castors mounted to the bottom.
Custom graphics for the marquee and control panel (as shown).
Has a brown smoked plexiglass screen in front of TV (foamboard bezel).  No mounting brackets, laid directly on the TV.

Controls:
2 happs joysticks, with 7 buttons each.  These are hooked up through an ipac (32 input USB version).
3" trackball, with three buttons (configured for left clicking in windows and a couple of mame-related commands) - USB version. The trackball is also setup to work as the mouse in windows.

Hardware:
27" Sony Vega TV inside, an "almost flatscreen" (screen is basically flat except for extreme edges).
Florescent light mounted in the marquee
Coin door, working slots and lights (player 2 coin slot a bit flaky though)

Computer:
athlon xp 2000, 512M Ram, 20G hard drive, DVD player, Geforce 3 video card
Also in the computer is a TView gold scan convertor.  This takes the video signal from the computer and converts it to 640x480i before running it through S-video to the TV.  It looks a lot better than straight video card output (and eliminates a lot of the hassle of multiple resolution games).
The computer is mounted on the left inside wall of the cabinet.
I use WinXP in it but the sale will not include copy of windows (keeping the license to move to another machine).

Speakers are hacked PC speakers with subwoofer.  Volume control is mounted through the top of the cab.  I think the sound is good, but probably the worst part of the cab's construction (although easy to fix).
