Does anybody have a picture of his/her Tron joystick?
« on: May 03, 2006, 10:57:38 am »
I would like to add a picture to the TRON_joystick page of the wiki, but I don't own one, and I don't have permission to use any old pic I find on the web (stupid copyrights).

Pictures I would like to include:
the whole mechanism (not in a CP)
the stick in a Tron machine (natural habitat)
the stick on a MAME machine
Satan's Hollow/Gorf/Xenophobe/DOT/Happs HD sticks of any kind

If you are wiki savvy you can just upload them to the TRON_joystick page.

If not, please post them in this thread and I'll move them over (with credit to you of course).

They need to be pictures you took, and therefore can give the wiki permission to post.  We can't put somebody's pics up without his/her permission.

You can use anything I have here: http://home.earthlink.net/~rescuetron

If you look on the right there is a links section to other Tron projects you might ask for images from them

Also some pics you can snatch from my BYOAC project thread, good joystick shots here -

And you may always use images from RetroBlast if needed, just make a "courtesy of" note in the wiki if you would -

There are some good Tron joystick pics on RetroBlast here - http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/leaf-switch_bracket-04272006-01.html

Mine is dis-assembled at home so I can post a picture if no one else does.

Because of work, it won't be for at least a day though.  :banghead:

I have an original Gorf machine.  I can give you picture of it's stick when I get home tonight.  Probably just the top though.  It's functioning machine so I don't know how easy it will be to get underside shots without tearing it apart, which I don't want to do.

I can probably get underside pics of the Gorf stick. It'll be a day or so.

The top restrictor is identical to the DOT/Xeno restrictor with regard to outside dimensions.
The center hole is identical in size, but is turned 45 degrees to make a diamond shape.

The bottom restrictor is very similar as well.
The DOT/Xeno sticks use a restrictor that has a square hole, but goes into a round hole on the base.
The Tron ones have a diamond-shaped hole, that goes into a diamond shaped hole on the base.
You can put a Tron restrictor onto a DOT stick because the diamond shaped top part will fit into the circular hole.
You can't go the other way around though.

Okay, here's my Gorf stick pics.  Turns out the control panel was only held on with clamps so it was easy to get off and take underside photos.  Feel free to use any of these.

I'm sure some of you knew this, but this is an odd beast (at least for me, but I'm new to this stuff).  It's an 8-way, but uses optics rather than switches.  There's a "blade" that travels between 2 optical eyes (like a mouse) for each axis.

Here is a pic with the switches in place to complement the ones that CheffoJeffo put up.

Dang!

Now I'm gonna have to just make a huge HD trigger stick gallery!

I won a Satan's Hollow handle the other day and got it in the mail last night, so I'll even have pictures of my own to contribute.

I've also got a Tron Deadly Discs Atari 2600 stick to photograph tonight.

We will have the definitive collection soon :)
