Pipe down.  We all know you'll be coming up with some excuse not to come anyways...  ;)

It's likely true.  Just not worth $45 in gas.

I'll have to wait until I get home to check my calender/wife but I think the 9th is a possibility for me.

I would avoid the labor day weekend, it's no fun when the place is swamped with people.

I drive a Civic.  30-35mpg on the highway.  You don't get all that much better in the US without going to a really small or ---smurfy--- car.

I live three+ hours from the place.

OK, and there I was asuming you'd drive a petrol guzzling Town Car :D

Sorry about that, was just kidding really, I understand, 6 hours of driving is a lot. I will have to drive almost 4 hours, but I will stay the night at Weirs beach. And it's about as close as I will ever be to the best classic arcade collection I'll ever be so it's worth every penny for me. I'd never forgive myself if I didn't do it while being so close to it :D

P.S. The Civic is a nice car. I drove an Accord Tourer for a while (a Stationcar, can't find it on the US Honda site ? Don't they sell it there ?? http://honda.nl/content/car/18296_42062.html
Amazing car. It was a Diesel, but you could never tell and the power of the engine was formidable. Nice driving car, but they are freaking expensive here.

By the lack of response it seems as though there will be no official NEBYOAC meet this time...

Bummer.  :hissy:
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I'd love to, but with my company moving in September and me being out of the country for the first week, I don't think I can make any definite plans until the day before.

OK guys, it's a real shame, but I think we have to call this whole thing off then. There was also one thing I hadn't concidered before: although my uncle & aunt are retired now, my cousins are really busy during the week, so probably we will try to visit them in the weekends. This probably means I will try to target at a working day to visit Funspot, because  I figure it will be a lot more quite then.

This is not 100% sure yet, but likely. So thanks everyone for cosidering coming.

However:
If only one of you still can now say he is definitly there on august 9th, I will be there ! Just let me know ASAP :D Plane is almost leavind ;)

OK, shame I won't meet any of you guys.....

Only one day before I leave......can anybody still recommand a nice, not too expensive place to stay near Weirs Beach ?

Anduhmmmmm, those Funspot coupons, how do they work ? I read that when you pay $20,-  in one go you will pay $0,16 per token. So is that coupon adding those 50 free tokens on top of that ?

If my calculations are right that would give you 125+50=175 tokens for 20 bucks........
That's a lot......even for a desperate fanatic from Europe who hasn't seen any of these classics either never before or not for a VERY long time :D

I've stayed at the Naswa a couple of times, it's really nice, has a small beach bar that's usually popular, but it's a little more expensive than most other places in the area;
http://www.naswaresort.com

Christmas Island resort is a little bit down the road from the Naswa;
http://www.christmasresort.com

There's a list of other places to stay near-by here;
http://www.laconiahotels.worldweb.com/index.htm

The Funspot coupons do work, so print out a couple. Most hotels in the area willl probably have Funspot coupons too, if you forget them.

Have a good time!

You have to take the coupons to the service desk over by the bumper cars.  When you do that they let you use a specific token machine to change your $20 bill... that machine puts out the larger token amount.  It IS a huge amount and you won't be able to use them all.  They're like eleven cents each at that point.  Many of the machines at Funspot have credits in them half the time already, plus people leaving will just hand folks tokens rather than take them home.

When we were there last month I couldn't finish a $20 coupon batch between myself, my wife, and my two kids.  In three hours.

You must be a much more L33T g@m3r than I Chad.  It takes the woman and I 2.5-3 hours to go through the coupon's worth of tokens.

You don't have little kids to keep track of in between games.  Lots of wandering around muttering "now where the hell did he go" and standing outside the bathroom.

I've got a three year old...  She is pretty well behaved though.

Eventually she will become old enough that she will wander.  Especially in an arcade.

Haha, I recognize all that from my 4 year old son :)

I'm sending this from Drury MA, so we had an excellent journey here.

Joymonkey, thanks for that info !!!

Amazing about that coupon stuff.....I printed out 6 :D
Don't think I'll needd them all.....amazing they still make profits there.

I saw there's also another arcade there Half Moon, they also got a reasonable amount of classics. In fact, I searched my TomTom for amusement stuff here, and  I was amazed at the number of arcades even here in the area........I found a Namco Cyberstation......triggered my curiousity. But I can't be over-anxious.....I'll just hold my horses until Weirs Beach :D

They make their profits from facility rentals for rich folks who can't be bothered to play with the crowds.  And from the events they run.  Weirs Beach is a summertime playground for the wealthy.  The very wealthy.

Hey guys, well what can I say. Funspot was like a dream :)

Got the 175 tokens for 20 bucks, and it took us 3 hours (first day) and another hour (next day) to use them all :D

Well for me there were almost TOO many classics.....you get itchy because you fear maybe you dont have enough time to play them all :D

First feelings: the DK, Pac Man etc. cabs have become smaller over time.........or maybe I'm just a little bigger then when I played cabs like Ms. Pac Man and DK

 High points:
-Asteroids......what a fantastic game in it's true vector glory !!!!
-Ms.Pac Man, of course I had to honour my favorite game by playing it first. One of the cabs had a bad sound, didn't play the bass sounds, weird.
-Robotron, now THAT's the way to play it ! My muscles stil hurt.
-Q-bert.......it just feels better on a real cab.Shame that the cocktail doesn't have the knocker !!!! And shame they don't have the stand-up cab there.

All in all it was great fun !!!

Shame I didn't get to meet any of you guys though....

It was nice that there were almost no people around, but it would have been cool if some people would have watched when I broke all those world records there ;) ;) ;)
