This is the best from Matt and Trey, this is after cable net pulled the episode.

"So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!"

The duo signed the statement "Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants of the dark lord Xenu."

Now think about that. Jesus could use m16's to kill Iraqis with no problems from people, but when some made up religion (to get out of paying taxes) is rIdiculed because it's so stupid people go crazy.

ALL Hail Xenu

LOL! Where did you find that statement? That needs some forwarding!

I liked Chef, But now I don't ike Mr Hayes.

Obsucre reference alert.

That said, I hope they don't replace him with Mr. Derf.  I hate that guy.

Nobody's mentioned the best site with information about Scientology - it even has the South Park episode available for free (legal) download:

Operation Clambake.

Joymonkey - yes, the South Park episode's version is the secret, central doctrine. That's why it 'this is not a joke' (or similar) is overlayed over the top whilst it is being shown. Operation Clambake has good, detailed information about it.

Wha????  That's not how copyright works.  A book reviewer isn't violating copyright by talking about the contents of a book.

As far as secret beliefs being revealed....that doesn't matter either.  Mormons have all kinds of secret rituals and costumes and chants that go on in the Mormon temples, but it's all documented and available in the Library of Congress.  It has to be.

We're not talking about mormons. So these particular writings are not in the library of congress. They are tightly controlled by the church. Only small bits of information are revealed to those privileged few who climb up the ranks (and pay for it). Those people, being devout members wouldn't dream of sharing the info with anybody else. (Would you, if it cost you $1 million for the privilege?). So whenever some info "leaks" out, someone, somewhere has obviously made unauthorized copies of the writings, and therefore commited copyright infringement. So those people get sued.

Here's a new twist to this whole story: http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,188463,00.html

"Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park. The church quit it for him."

Don't know if it's true or not, (it is Fox after all)...

Paramount releases South Park, Paramount releases Mission Impossible.
Tom Cruise is in Mission Impossible, Tom Cruise is in Scientology.

This publicity stunt gives Paramount free press for South Park, and Mission Impossible.

And gives Hayes/Cruise's religion a lot of press.  (No press is bad press.)  I actually think you are right.  Everybody wins.

I just realized the MI:3 is directed by JJ Abrams.  So it could - in theory - be good.

In theory mind you.

Barely a week after Isaac Hayes quit 'South Park' as the voice of Chef, Chef will return to 'South Park' for the premier of Season 10 tomorrow night, March 21. The episode is described like this:
The town is jolted out of a case of the doldrums when Chef suddenly reappears. While Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are thrilled to have their old friend back, they notice that something about chef seems different. When Chef’s strange behavior starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him.

We're not talking about mormons. So these particular writings are not in the library of congress.

So whenever some info "leaks" out, someone, somewhere has obviously made unauthorized copies of the writings, and therefore commited copyright infringement. So those people get sued.

Mormon doctrine specifically forbids disseminating information about the most sacred rituals inside their temples to people who are not worthy (you have to qualify for a "temple recommend").  My understanding is that they are required to reveal all their activities to the government in order to qualify as a religion for tax purposes.  They don't make this info available to the public out of a general sense of curiosity.

And I repeat, that's not how copywrited info works.  Random House simply cannot win a law suit against me for telling you what The DaVinci Code is about.  The concept is utterly absurd.  They don't have an infringement case even if I read the book aloud to you verbatim (unless I'm running a business charging people for it, I suppose).  It's not against the law to tell people what you know about something.  Think of all the satire Southpark or Simpsons or any show like that does, making fun of and paying tribute to everything from Indiana Jones to The Matrix to Star Wars to Christianity to Mormonism.  All of those involve copyrighted material.

This is about Scientology weilding a power in Hollywood wholly separate from the law.  Pulling the episode has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the prospect of a lawsuit.

This is about a cartoon that's run it's course, but is getting an extra season by using the underdog card.

Paramount owns the rights to South Park and Mission Impossible.  South Park isn't a group of average joes going up against the mighty religion, those guys have no problem with canceling one show, if it sells them more shows.  It's only about making money, and nothing about freedom of speech and copyrights.

Everybody will be cashing bigger checks over this, everybody but us.

Do you have any idea at all as to what you are talking about?

Over the past 3 seasons, South Parks ratings have grown to and exceeded the ratings of the FIRST THREE SEASONS.

Since it came on the air 9 years ago on Comedy Central it has had the highest ratings on the network. 9 YEARS STRAIGHT. Not even Dave Chappelle(who has the biggest selling comedy DVDs of all time) could unseat it.

South Park makes a TON of money for Comedy Central.

Comedy Central has what is basically an open contract with the shows creators. Meaning they will buy as many episodes that the duo wants to make per yer.(I believe with a 7 or 8 show minimum) for as long as the duo wants to go on.

Please explain to us what you meant by "run it's course?". If you say that the show has gone down hill creatively, you obviously don't watch.

Shmokes,
I misunderstood what you originally wrote. I never claimed copyright could be used as the basis of fighting "word of mouth". I was just explaining that lawyers and copyright law (as well as the claim that their writings are "trade secrets") are how $cientologists have historically fought the dissemination of their writings. (And that's fact, not my imagination).

Well, they killed off Chef on Southpark.  They did a spoof of their "Scientology" episode.  In this one, Chef was brainwashed into becoming a pedophile by the "Super Adventure Club."  He was mauled by a lion and bear at the end.

Seemed like most (if not all) of Chefs lines were edited together from old episodes.  I wonder if Isaac Hayes actually did some new lines or if they were able to entirely use lines from previous episodes.

Today the story gains momentum as the New York Post picks it up and now names names:
"(Hayes is) at home recuperating and did not issue the press release which said he was quitting because the show made fun of his faith. That release was put out by fellow Scientologist Christina "Kumi" Kimball, a fashion executive for designer Craig Taylor … 'Hayes loves 'South Park' and needs it for income. He has a new wife and a baby on the way.' "

I guess this could be more despicable, but only if Scientology attached the statement to a ten year old with cancer in a wheelchair, and then delivered the statement by pushing him down some stairs.

Recuperating from what?

from the fox news link Mr.C posted earlier:
"Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion."

Does anyone get Rolling Stone magazine?   If so, take a look at the most recent issue.  There is a big article about Scientology.   Very interesting read!

best episode of south park ever make shure you download it sence its banned

they should re do the entire episode i think

The term Scientology is a trademark of the Religious Technology Center, which licenses its use and use of the copyrighted works of Hubbard to the Church of Scientology.

they could just remove scientology and replace it with iditology

he leaves - March 2006, a press release announced that Isaac Hayes, a Scientologist, would be quitting his role on South Park, with the reason stated as being "intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others".
uhh havent they allways done that? thats why people like the show.

he and Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

ok ok they DID kill chef off or something

Chef, was then portrayed in his final episode as a brain-washed, child-molesting cultist in a group called the "Super Adventure Club".

yah they should re do the scientology episode and change it to super adventure club lmao

Well, they killed off Chef on Southpark.  They did a spoof of their "Scientology" episode.  In this one, Chef was brainwashed into becoming a pedophile by the "Super Adventure Club."  He was mauled by a lion and bear at the end.

Just a little tip from me to you "sence" you seem oblivious to the irony: when attempting to put someone down by using the term (or variation of) "idiot", do yourself a favor and SPELL idiot right.  I'd "shure" hate for you to have punk'd yourself, mmkay?  :P ;)
