Upgrade of Avatar sizes

<< < (4/7) > >>

Harry Potter:
It's already a small size and I wanna keep it that way. Unfortunately the site seems to stretch it to it's maximum size.

It's no big deal but it would be nice if everyone could drop what they're doing and fix it now.

I can't hold the hounds back for much longer.  ;)

HP, I don't have a good answer just yet, but I'm working on it. The way the forum administration works is that I can set a max size, but I also set "Resize through HTML" so that if anybody puts in one larger, they still get the avatar, but it resizes so we don't get some huge image. The problem with the logic on the board is that it applies the size to anything, even if it is smaller.

The easiest way right now to fix is to upload the avatar instead of using the URL link. That will upload the avatar in its native format as long as it's below 120x120 and retain the native size.

Harry Potter:
Damn I'm stupid. I thought I read somewhere on this board that you couldn't upload animated gifs to the site.

Works like a charm now. Thanks.  :)

You're half right. As long as the image is smaller than the forum max, it will leave it untouched. The issue is that if the image is larger than the forum maximum (in this case 120), then it will download the image, resize, but then save the format as png. Since they are using GD (which doesn't support GIF anymore) the animation is pitched.

I always wondered what that was.

What is it? ;)
