You'll get used to the concave buttons very quickly.  I've got them installed on one of my panels and they are very nice, actually.

I have no other choice  ::)

- It is easier (assuming you already have a full case together like I do)
- It is safer for the components

Mounting a motherboard, hard disk, power supply, possibly floppy/cdrom directly to a wood cabinet, dealing with potential damage to the components from faulty mounting or inadequate grounding, not to mention having the necessary expansion cards stay in the motherboard (they no longer have the anchoring of the screw mounting bracket from the case).

Man, I've been juggling mboards and rams and stuff for quite some time now. I have hooked them where no man has gone before.
So whats a shelf in a cab comparing to that ?
It really is nothing

Now, if you wanna talk about out of the case stuff, I'd go for the monitor/tv thing. Now that's something thats probably better stay in.

I for one use spare parts for my cabinets it's basically recycling old stuff and keeping it out of the landfills .

do I need to go out and buy the top of the line system to run mame? no, I'm just going to use an old 333mhz that's been lying around. I can use the case for something else. so for me it makes no sense to keep it in the case.
