A sad... sad story
« on: January 04, 2003, 11:07:55 pm »
This is a story of something which happened to me about 1 month before the thought of building a mame cabinet ever even crossed my mind.
I was at my work.  We sell ALL used equipment.  DVD, CD's, video games, audio, video, instruments, etc.  So this guy dropped off some stuff he wanted to sell.  We gave him cash for his CD's and stuff but we told him his TV would take some time to price out.  So he said "fine, I'll leave it over night and call tomorrow"
It is a 27'' flat TV with flat glass, huge speakers on the sides, and S-Video.  Anyways after he left we noticed it was about 7 years old and we dont carry equipment more than 5 years old.  So we called the owner and he said he doesnt want it on the shelf and tell the guy we wont buy it.
So the guy calls the next day and asks how much we'll give him.  We told him why we couldnt take it and he said, "well i dont feel like comming to get it so you can keep it".  We called the owner back and said it was free.  The owner said "I still dont want it on the shelf.  I dont care what you do with it, i want it out of the store by tomorrow."
We called a few pawn shops and none were open on a sunday.  Me and the other 2 working were thinking if we could get $60 for it that would be 20 a piece.  We ended up selling it to some hillbilly, but I could have had that TV for my self for $40, 20 to each of the other guys working, but I didnt buy it cause i didnt need it at the time.
Now I am in search of a monitor or TV for my cabinet-to-be.  :-[
