Anyone know sites with original Moonwalker art?
« on: August 07, 2005, 08:52:59 am »
Im going to build a replica moonwalker cab, but all I can seem to find after lots of searching is the marquee. Does anyone know of any sites with the Bezel, CPO, or sideart? I have googled it many times and cant find anything, any sites any of you know of?

While talking to Snaake, my art guy, we figured we could "remake" the sideart..by finding a large pic of the movie poster or movie cover,  re shaping, making a red back ground, and using the letters from the marquee, just making them white.. I found a great large high res pic on ebay of all places, so were good...I will post it for you ( shrunken of course ) ...

Here is a pic of the original cabinet, I will have to design somethin for the CPO for the little I can see... Im probably just going to make a mini cab, so I can use a normal pc monitor, It will be cool tho, and only play moonwalker, with a coin door wired up, So Ill basically have a dedicated moonwalker.. I would make a large one but dont wanna play for a big monitor (as the mame machine im almost done with cost about 2 grand...with a 27 inch monitor..)

Why not give it some original art, something like the "Molestation Moonwalker Mame Machine Madness" ?

This is supposed to be a serious thread.... The game was made back when michael jackson was still big, before the molestation days, which he was found innocent by the way. I cant even talk about this without the stupid posts about michael jackson.

It was a common enough game, but never ultra popular. Finding sideart is going to be difficult.

Sorry - but he was weird ever since the surgery. And OJ's innocent too! That's the last of my posts here. Good luck finding the sideart.

Here is a bezel I whipped up in microsoft paint... Used game play images for KLOV, and 2 different "Michael Jackson's Moonwalker" logos, think this would look somewhat original?(this is just a crap version I made to give me art guy an idea... just seein what you guys think of the basis) What you think of the idea?

No, he was found "not guilty".

I noticed the game has little girls in it. Weird.

Ive decided this cab will be made out of particle board, since the original was..While looking at the picture of the cabinet posted above, does this look like an original cabinet design, or is there an older cabinet shaped similar to this, if anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it so I can find the dimensions, anyone know the cabinet shape its based on and where I can find the dimensions? Thanks alot, Doug.

Of course, if you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and are found not-guilty, then you have been found innocent.

I really dig your project!  I remember when he was acquitted, I upped this to the Library.

Still needs work, but hey....here's a quick mock up for your sideart...Seems close enough...I think you should stick to the plain red bezel like the original though.

If anyone knew how to translate the insruction card to what it originally said in english, I would definately use it, with the plain red bezel, then I would have the real thing. Also, I  got rid of everything in microsoft paint on my moonwalker picture, so I could probably use that on the sideart instead ( posted above). Do you have any pictures of the control panel? so I could make something resembling the original? Anyways, thanks for actually caring about the project, any more details..the control panel, translation of instruction art, size of cabinet, anything is appreciated, thanks.

If you can find somebody with the Alien Storm 3-player dedicated cabinet, you could use those dimensions...They look to be the same as Moonwalker.

Well I have no idea what a dedicated Moonwalker CPO looks like, but I would just go by the picture below with a red background.

Ugh! :-\  I think you should talk to Snaake first about what can be done before you put that on your cab.  I'd hate to see all this work put into your machine with artwork that could use more polish.  I'm not saying mine is anywhere close to perfect, but you really need some help from the Artwork forum.  I'm not being mean; just offering constructive criticism.

All you need to do is throw what i wrote into a translator like babelfish or wwwjdic, it'd give you an idea of what it says at least. (That is, after someone else fills in the gaps..)
