Wanted: Tivo IR cable
« on: August 02, 2005, 05:00:51 pm »
Does anyone have a spare Tivo IR cable that they wouldn't mind selling or giving away?  My father threw away his by accident.  Thanks.

Infrared... cable?

it's a cable that allows your Tivo to interact with other remotes.  You put it on teh IR sensor of your digital cable box (or whatever) so that the Tivo can control it.

Replay used to sell replacements right on their site for $5 or $6 IIRC.  It seems like a standard plug, so you may be able to use that.
first off your and idiot

Ah, the IR receiver/transmitter.  Not just a cable.

I dont think its techically a full receiver/transmitter

Thats where I got mine for my Replay.  IF you look, its not a standard IR transmitter, at least not like those I"ve seen.

It is at least a transmitter, it sends signals to the cable box so that it can control it for the purposes of recording things you asked it to record.  That's why it needs close line of sight to the cable box.

Let me check when I get home.  I don't use it to control my tivo, and should have it sitting around somewhere.  Does you Dad have a series 1 or series 2?

you can use a standard ir emitter made by any company.  I work in the home theater field, and use them everyday.  I will give you one, if you give me your info, i'll drop it in the mail for you for free.

I got all my IR blaster cables at radio shack. Is the input a mono plug? If so I have a spare or two I could send you. I'll look for the model number to make sure it is the same part.
