Extreme Newbie, Need Guidance
« on: June 08, 2005, 03:50:44 pm »
I have been looking for a Killer Instinct full cabinet for years now. When I first started looking, they ran for about $750. Now they are in the range of $1500. I have been doing some recent browsing and came across these JAMMA boards. This brings me to my newbie questions. If I bought one of these JAMMA boards off of eBay, or from someone else, what all would I need to get the JAMMA board running like an arcade machine that you walk up to at Wal-Mart? I have also seen Killer Instinct hard-drives for sale. I have an X-Arcade stick that I play ROM games via MAME now, FYI. I have also downloaded U64EMU and I can play the downloaded ROM image of Killer Instinct on my computer, but that is not enough for me. I need the real deal! If you could kindly point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I am starving for information. Thanks.

I'd say since you already have MAME running, why not just buld a cab and transfer the X-Arcade buttons and joysticks to a CP. Would be cheaper since you will have to build a cab either way. Just a thought.

You will need any arcade cabinet capable of playing Jamma games and in this case with the auxilary buttons/ harness for killer instinct becaus the jamma wiring standard only supports 3 buttons per player.

Not sure where you are looking, but you should be able to find a KI unit for under $750.

Yeah, KI is not a $1500 game. I only paid $600 for mine is perfect condition (even though that was 2 or 3 years ago).

When I sold it about a year ago I think I got about $640 for it.
