I finally got my Glock 17C

After about 6 months of waiting, my paperwork came back for my new Glock. It normally doesnt take that long, but because I'm overseas, there are a few extra hurdles to jump through. Either way, its here.....

What's the do-hicky above the clip in the case and what's up with that trigger? The only thing's I've ever shot where the 2 BB and 1 Pelet gun I've owned.

I'm not being anti-gun, I just don't get it. A lot of people don't get why we love arcade games and why we would need more than one. So take these questions like you would dumb arcade questions.
What do you plan on shooting? Was it expensive? Could you have gotten another arcade game instead? It seems like any gun that shoots would be enough for the protection purpose, so why all the fuss? Why would anyone want more than one?
