I think the buy\sell board should be restricted

I just posted @ 10:57 to this thread...
The original poster has already tried unlocking the thread (he contacted me asking for help)... I get the notification saying that the thread is unlocked, but it's still locked...???
<edit>
Never mind... It's unlocked now.

To date, I have only been able to answer one or two questions based on my limited knowledge. I have read a great deal and learned quite a bit from everyone. I have learned what to do, what not to do, and what NOT to post. :-)
That, however, should not limit me to posting a request to buy (or sell) something in that forum. While I understand that the request was trying to eliminate one particulary foul type of post, if my post count is not high enough, I would be restricted from posting a request to purchase something.
I would agree that not answering a post is a much easier way to avoid the problem. But, I also know that some people chose to do it another way. I do not know if it is possible, but what about not allowing someone to post there for "X" amount of time after they create the account?

You may not be able to post in the BST forum but you can still send ponyboy or whomever you are interested in ordering stuff from a personal message. Thus you are still able to buy things from other members on this site but you aren't able to sell anything currently, wich is the point of what they are trying to do.
oh wait get this one: you can still do it, you just have to jump through a few HooPZ to do so. :D

While I agree the determined user is going to pad their results, this will deter the typical automated system or casual spammer. If there is a way to abuse a system, someone determined will always find it. This coupled with the reporting function is sufficient for the volume we see.
We have also gone to great lengths to eliminate a pissing-for-distance contest for posts and their reflected value. As you can see, there really isn't a major class system here for general membership. We all think this promotes general fairness and puts everyone on an equal playing field. Anything else is a matter of self-control and passionate conversation. :)
