Your wife is expecting around that time, and you're thinking about going to an auction?  Man, you're brave.

I'll be there.  It'll be good to meet up with more BYOACers.  Prolly just for the main auction on Sat.

Chemixtry and I went to one of their old putt-putt auctions.  it was packed and seemed like everything was going for high prices.  Although the interesting part was the non-arcade type auctions.  They would sell locked cabinets and all their contents, chairs, vacuum cleaners, soda dispensers, huge giraffes and everything else you could think off.

last time the guy who bought the puttputt just bid on everything.  He paid $1200 for EACH side of a skee-ball AND then had to bid $800 to get the sign. (sounded like a victim of the shill)

anyays.  We'll see you all there.  Eyedoc, hopefully we'll see ya there...just keep the cell phone on!

I used to say look for the yankee hat and jersee. lately I haven't bothered since we all know each other and the yanks aren't soing so well anyway  :(

cue Xcalibur to taunt me a second time... go rangers!

I have to miss this one as I'll be in Mexico driving around somewhere with the fam in a minivan  :-\.  I just hope bathrooms are close and easy to find on the road!

Someone pick me up a mint Tron for 10 bucks huh.  I'll pay you for the gas  :)
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

I'll get a white t-shirt and fashion the letters "BYOACer" on the front with a sharpie. That should make it easy. Now fellers, this is gonna' be my first, so I might need a couple of you to help me pop my cherry.

Yes, yes it is.

Man, I hate to miss an auction with so many byoacers.  We could've all hit Hooter's afterward.  Flampoo, have some of the guys lookout for you in case they start shill bidding.  The big guy with 3 teeth is the worst auctioneer for upping the bid for you.  He'll say 50, you raise your hand, so then he'll say 100 (instead of 75).  If you win, he will say you got it at 75.  Happens all the time with him.  Make sure to correct him in the middle of bidding if you think he's done this.  NY_in_TX can tell you all about him.  Other than that, the auction is extremely fun (for us a byoacers).  You might want to bring a folding chair, it can get very slow when they are going through redemption.

There was a great thread a few days ago about this.  Read everything Paige said.  He has the auction nailed.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

I've been to auctions before, mostly estate sales, just never for arcades. I'll probably be looking for a couple dirt cheap project cabinets.
Good lookin' out!

I'll be at the Mesquite one for sure. There's also an auction this weekend in OKC. I went to the last auction by the same people in OKC -- here was my review of it, if anyone would like to see it.

http://www.robohara.com/videogames/articles/index.php?file=121804_auction

The highest selling item last time was a MAME Cab which went for $800. I kind of felt like approaching the second highest bidder and making a deal, but I didn't ...  ;D

Man one auction about a year ago was the "attack of the converted classics"

several Star Wars as Splatterhouses and Trons as anything you could imagine.

one star wars was mint...except of course for the marquee and the missing yoke.

agreed though...they should be shot
