I was reading that in this type of older arcade cabinet that the RAM was prone to being corrupted when the RAM lost -5V supply. I am just trying to figure out what this mean.
Obviously, when the machine has no power, then the RAM loses the -5V supply but everything would still work next time you turn the cabient on. So does it mean that the RAM might get corrupted when the RAM chip is no longer being provided -5V but is currently being provided the 5V and 12V it needs. Basically, is it the absense of the -5V supply only which causes the RAM chips to get corrupted?
My thoughts are that even though my power supply seems to be working now, I would not want to send away and get my RAM chips fixed and then have my power supply cause a drop in voltage which would then ruin my RAM chips once again.
