rdagger:
I've started work on a gun nozzle based webcam approach that ideally will support multiple players. I'm a long way off from having a viable solution. If anyone is interested, here are some pictures of the software image processing/tracking of my cab. If anyone has any experience with OpenCV, computer vision or OV camera chips, I could definitely use some help. |

You don't have to worry about batteries or loosing the gun. but when we don't have any other options... we don't have any other options. --- End quote --- It's certainly easier to add a wire to the gun than to subtract one. You can always chain it to the cab if you want. ;) |

I personally don't care for the idea that I only have 2 degrees of freedom, that seems like it could get rather annoying. But I do like the idea of no flash, and can be used on any monitor/TV. I just think that accuracy is an overriding concern and would rather be limited by monitor type then by freedom of movement. I eagerly await Trimoor's solution (so long as it doesn't involve an altoids can). |
Kremmit:
Trimoor's solution WAS the one in the Altoids can. |

It's good to see my April fools joke worked on at least one person. ;D My solution was just an altoids tin with some wires sticking out of it. It didn't actually do anything, but it looks neat. --- Quote from: sWampy on March 16, 2005, 09:27:08 pm ---Several of the ones I've seen, let you use your regular gun, and you just stick a plug over the end of the barrel that has patterns on it, and goes an inch or so down the barrel. --- End quote --- That's nothing. I went to a simulator in Branson where they used real guns, ones that actually fired. They projected video on a bulletproof dropcloth which must have had sensors in it, as it updated the video in real time as you shot at targets. The actual game/simulation was pretty lame, but shooting the hell out of a floating blob with a fully automatic Uzi more than made up for it. 8) Now, does anyone know where to get these dropcloths? ;) |
