Answer me this...

I read somewhere that a WG6100 tube is nothing too special, meaning you can swap the tube with a variety of other 19" tubes, nothing vector specific.

Now, ArcadeShop sells replacement HV units and replacement deflection units.

So what is left?  The xy tube collar and neck board?

Meaning, what is left to simply put together an xy monitor out of available parts?

SuperGunGuru:

Earlier in this thread I linked to a few pages with information on the 6100 including a place that sells replacement tubes. While I agree it can be expensive and a pain to put together a working color XY, I think people honestly make too big a deal out of it. The only thing not being reproduced is the neck board (to my knowledge). I'm not trying to slam anyone, but I just don't see how we are in that much trouble for XY stuff if almost the entire monitor can be put together using brand new parts.

paigeoliver:

They still make a compatible tube.

Unfortunately no one makes the neckboards.

So basically you can build an essentially new monitor if you have a donor monitor, but there aren't even enough donor monitors, too many of them got chucked out.

ChadTower:

Yeah, but other than that circular connector, what is so hard about a neckboard?  You could repair a dead neckboard pretty easily, there's not much at all on one.

THe yoke is different too I think.
