Arcade monitor/Jpac/Ipac4 help
« on: February 03, 2005, 07:49:24 pm »
I have a large arcade cab w/ 33  inch monitor (used to be one of those Multicade type machines) which only had 2 8-way sticks and 1 4-way. The control panel I built has 4 8-way (7 buttons each player), 1 4-way, a Happs trackball, and an Oscar spinner, along with coin and start buttons for each player.I have an Ipac4, an Optipac, a J-pac and the Arcadevga card. The old harness is still in the machine. What I'm wondering is if I can wire everything through the Ipac4 (connected to the J-pac), only utilizing the monitor wiring from the old harness while leaving all of the other wires disconnected. Sorry if this is long and confusing. Thanks.

Yes you can.

You could also wire the controls you have with just the JPAC.

Only confusing part is why use the IPAC4 if the wiring harness is complete.

Either way you are set.

Thanx for the reply Goz. I got the Ipac because I didn't think that the Jamma harness could accommodate that many inputs. Also my control panel sits on a pedestal about 4 feet from the monitor. By sticking an Ipac in the CP my wires are only about 2 feet long each as opposed to the 10 feet it would take to run them through the pedestal and up into the monitor part of the cab to the Jpac. Thanx again for the advice, I'm sure I'll need it again before this thing is finished.  :)
