I only download this program the other day and it's f@?k'n awesome and I can't believe I didn't download it much earlier, I bought Virtual Music Jukebox a while back but it's very buggy and this is a much more stable alternative. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for all of your effort and let you know how much people like myself who can't program really appreciate people who put the time and effort in to writing a program and then freely share with others.

Just wondering what if any features you may add to the jukebox in the future?

Things I would love to see added if possible would be dual monitor support, videos, skinning, perhap some sort of random mode biased towards the most played songs.

Anyway without any of these requests it's still the best jukebox I've used.

How about for the screen saver to be closed, the mouse has to move at least 5 pixels, or be clicked?  That might solve your problem...

Not a bad idea at all, added that in. 

In this case, PileDriver has a touch screen, so a click will suffice, but the more the merrier!

Unfortunatly, all the features you have listed there are either in the 'very long term' list, or not even on there at all.

First, I want to say that this is a great program, I've been messing around with it for a couple of days and so far I think this might be on jukebox for my cab, I was just wondering (I might have missed it) is there an option to play an entire album, (with one click)

 Under Display Settings,  Display Track Names Not Codes In 'Track List',  Is that supposed to get rid of the numbers in the Track List? If so it doesn't seem to be working for me.
 Also is there any way to scroll through the Albums just using one click and not the keyboard or Keypad?

The Track Name option displays the track code + the track name.  The other option simply displays the codes.  I guess the wording of that option is a little misleading.....   

The only way to scroll through the albums is by using the keyboard or the on-screen Keypad, I'm afriad.  Well, there's the scroll wheel support, but that's a little flaky at times.

  first off great program!!!!! i think the best part is that my wife likes it,and she does'nt like anything that has to do with computers... but is there any way to put a delay between songs playing randomly in screensaver mode so they don't play one after another? i did'nt see it in the options but thought maybe there was a way. or maybe it could be considered in a upcoming version. thanks and again skjuke is by far the best there is...........

I have art work for most of my CD's from Amazon that I drug into place in Itunes. On SK Jukebox I have Utilize ID3 Tags and Use Static Data Base clicked on. I also got error messages when I used the ID3 tag option, I also found that the program was a lot slower going through the albums so I don't use the ID3 tag support anymore.

As far as your artwork goes you'll need the picture of the album cover to be in your album directory, call it "folder.jpg" and it will show up. You would find that the album covers Itunes download will be of too poor a quality to display in SK Jukebox, I reckon you will need a resolution of at least 300x300 to look anygood, I use a resolution of 512x512 for most of my albums.

If you decide to download album covers I recommend you use  "Album Cover Art Downloader".

If you do get this program make sure you play around with the settings e.g.:

Make sure it saves the picture as a jpg, also you can configrue the size of the picture it saves, I do all mine at the 512x512 pixels option.

Yep, of course using the MP3 Tags is going to be slower.  It had to open every file rather than just go off the file name.  That's why I suggested you only use it in conjunction with the static database, so it doesn't need to load the file every time you load the program.

Anyway, I did make a couple of changes to the ID3 code that should fix the run time error 5 issue.  Expect an update in the next couple of days!

As long as the .jpg file is stored in the same folder as the album, that should be fine.  If you read the readme.txt, it explains how it will look for the album art.  As long as it has a .jpg extension and is in the same folder, it will work.  If you are unsure as to where they are stored, just search your HDD for .jpg files.  I have a feeling, however, that it may have actually stored the image inside of the MP3 files themselves.  I have never used Itunes before, so I don't know for sure.

As for the program showing you the wrong information when you are not using ID3, look at the naming options available in the Options screen.  How I have mine setup are '\artist\album\xx - song.mp3', where xx is a 2 digit track number.

It's not hard to keep the albums named correctly with a program like Tag&Rename.  I have a couple thousand albums that I easily manage.

Anyway, I am unsure as to how your albums are setup, but hopfully this info is enough to give you an idea on how to get the most out of the program.

I also had problems with the app finding my folder.jpg files, regardless of the search rules published. I worked around the problem by copying folder.jpg to cover.jpg in all my album directories, and the program found these OK. I had a number of different *_large.jpg files as a result of using Itunes, windows media player, windows media centre and SKjukebox working on the same mp3 file collection which may have been confusing it.

Great jukebox program.

My wishlist would include full navigation by joystick alone (I am able to use a trackball as a mouse, so no big problem), and two buttons for up/down skipping a letter at a time rather than the jump function.

I have moticed the sound quality from your program sounds alot different than what comes from windows media player and some other jukebox programs! Try a song on yours and then play the same song through windows media player and you will see what i mean! Let me know what is going on. It just doesn't have the punch that the other programs have it sounds weak and low.
A few things that would be nice with your program is to add a EQ, make the program skinnable and a way to select between genres of music or select between librarys.

You wouldn't happen to have an "Enhancement" plugin active in your Windows Media Player would you?  Something like SRS WOW?  If these other jukebox programs use the windows media player as there sound player, they are probably using any plugins you have active in your media player.

SalmonKing, I have another feature request. I asked already in an old post, but I'd like to ask again (last time, promise).
If you follow the software forum, there is a lot of effort being put in adding "instructions" to MAME games while playing or just before launching, where you show a picture of your cabinet control panel and a label showing what each button does.

I'm doing the same for my cab and I already have a picture shoping the controls before launching SK jukebox, but SK jukebox is the least intuitive program to use on my cab, just because the cpanek is layed out for MAME, not for controlling a jukebox, so people often get confuse and forget which button does what.

I would like the ability to display the "cheat sheet" inside of SK jukebox. All it would have to do would be to display a picture full screen when a key is pressed, then go back to normal operation when either the same key, or any key, or whatever is pressed. You could do it when the pause key is hit or on a dedicated key.

There  might be other ways to deal with it, like adding it somewhere to the browsing screen, but the picture might end up being too small.

The hep screen is would be tied to the same key as all the other things on my cab, so users already know which button is the help button. I'm also thiking about stenciling a question mark on it.

Yes, everyone wanting to use this functionnality would need to provide a picture, SK Jukebox would not be expected to autogenerate it or anything.

Id did seem pretty easy, which is why I asked again.

In order to get out of the screen saver, I need to hit a key on the keyboard ( spacebar I think). My aim is to run the program with the mouse only, so is there a way to come out of the screen saver by just using the mouse?

I don't want to not use the screensaver as I couldn't live with myself if I got screen burn in on my shiny new plasma.

Also while I'm at it.... has anyone seen a programable remote control that you can use thru your computer to replace the mouse/keyboard actions.
(That would kick ass.)

I run my jukebox on a P3 800, with a decent AGP video card, and the performance is more than acceptable.

The better question to the skinning topic is : Why make it skinnable at all?  The program is designed to be as simple as possible...adding 50 customizable graphical elements (or whatever it takes) to the screen would basically mean stripping down the entire interface & starting again.  And I'm not going to do that.  You can change the fonts/colours of basically everything, so that should give you enough to customize it to your liking.

As for genres, look at the directory options in the settings screen.  You can tick a box that says 'First Part Of Directory Is Genre'.  For example, if you have C:\Music, put all your Rock albums in C:\Music\Rock, all your Classical in C:\Music\Classical, etc.  The program will then give you a choice of all the different 'genres' it finds, and you can switch genres at any time by pressing the key that is mapped to Switch Genres (look in the Key Mapping section).

Yes, moving or clicking the mouse gets you out of the screensaver.

I am looking at remotes at the moment, so if I manage to get it all up & running, I'll put the info on my site.  I bought a Creative remote (that is on it's way as I type this) that I am HOPING will do the trick.  I also found a couple of programs that will watch whatever COMM port the remote receiver is hooked up to, and will convert that signal to a keystroke & send it to whatever open program you choose.  I have  a touchscreen, programmable remote already, so then the only thing missing is a wireless remote extender, as the jukebox will be at the other end of the house (with the sound / pictures coming into the TV/receiver via RCA cables running thru my roof) 

Anyway, all that's left is to see what this remote receiver will be able to do, then get an extender in place.

Which version are you using?  Might have been that I fixed that after the version that's on the site.....if you're using the latest version and it's not working, wait for the next version & let me know if it fixes the issue or not.
