No More Ikari-style Joysticks :(

HeadRusch:

That website lists them as SNK replacement joysticks, would they interface with an optipac?

Aceldamor:

Been checkin' out BYOAC forever, but never came to the forums. I was just tuned into this forum and found the perfect subject to post on...... ;D

I have a local distributer who sells the old SNK Akari sticks and he sold me 2 of them a few days ago....I've been trying to find wiring diagrams on them so I know how to wire them. There are 4 leads coming from the bottom of the stick, now I'm not sure if there is another piece missing or if mine are a different model.  I've seen the ones that have the 12 connection points and have to be plugged into the decoder board that someone sells...but mine don't look like that.  Here are some pics..has anybody seen this style?

They almost look like they wire up like a mouse would....

Any help would be greatly appreciated

MinerAl:

I can't tell from your pics, but the four leads suggests to me that you have an optical rotary joystick rather than the multi-position kind.

Does it turn smoothly or click like an old-school TV knob?

The 4 connectors could be +5V, GND, X1, and X2.

If it spins smoothly then you definitely have an optical.

Aceldamor:

It in fact does spin smoothly, and I assumed it was an optical...but I wanted to see if anyone else had seen theese kind before.

I also noticed that above the connector on the plastic corresponding to the pins are the letters V B A O

hmmmm......

CitznFish:

wow this is an old post. SlikStik does currently offer the mechanical  12 way rotating joysticks...
