No More Ikari-style joysticks?? :(

SlickStick said those joysticks used in games like Time Warriors, Ikari Warriors, Caliber 50 (I think), Midnight Resistance, Front Line, etc...are no longer being made.  I was hoping to order from them and get a pair of rotating joysticks in there.

I recall a year ago hitting the board here (which, by the way, is awesome) and seeing that most folks hadn't tinkered with those joysticks because nobody could figure out exactly how to interface them with a PC.  ie: is it part spinner, part joystick?

Anyhow.........I guess thosejoysticks are no longer made?  I was wondering if anyone had come up with a good solution to that particular problem...

I suppose if you had a spinner and a trigger-grip joystick or something you could play 1 player.........and if you had a trackball another player could use that as a turning device....that is.....I guess......maybe.....??

Anyone?

Lilwolf:

I bought two new ones from www.videoconnect.com for 15bucks each.

WELL worth it

Luckily I got at least one.   Those things are pretty damn expensive.   Whats really sad... is that with the current fall of arcades... big companies like Happs may fall as well.

Then what will we do for joysticks and buttons?

Hopefully, there will be a solution...  such as people making some decent arcade machines... or happs converting to more of a home user product base.

Ohh and I have to put my 2cents in here about how lame those 2 recent pinballs were.  They were so unoriginal looking.   If they want to bring pinball back... they better start making them more interesting.

Scary stuff this future...   thank god for emulation!   :  )

AndyWarne:

Happ still list both the Ikari warrior (switch) type and the optical type, which can be used with an Opti-PAC.

Lilwolf:

the optical one works with an opti-pac.  The switch one has 12 connectors on them and they run easiest through Druid's interface card (which cost 75bucks or so)
