IE Crashing immediately after posting to this forum?
shmokes:
I'll second the delete temp internet files (Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files, OK). I've seen a lot of random problems with internet explorer once Temporary Internet files fill up to the set space limit they are allowed to take up on the hard drive. I have no idea why MS would be so thick not to build in a warning that says, "Hey You!!! You're out of space for temporary internet files. Delete some or allocate more space immediately!!!"
And I'll emphatically third or fourth or fifth or whatever the recommendation that you switch to Firefox. Nothing new to learn if you don't want to. Right out of the gate all your Internet Explorer favorites will have be imported in and all the Internet Explorer keyboard commands do the same thing in Firefox. Internet Explorer will still work exactly the same, so it's not like once you switch you're screwed if you don't like it. There are lots of goodies in there, though, if you are[/b] willing to learn a few new tricks (CTRL+T and middle clicking on links being the most important of them). Even without learning anything new, at the very least you get a built in pop-up ad blocker.

Mozilla also gets my vote.
I had the same problem recently with IE running on Windows 98SE. But I couldn't post anything anywhere without the program crashing. I think the problem started after I had removed some spyware. At one stage I seemed to be removing spyware on an almost daily basis. Microsoft's attitude to security borders on the negligent IMHO. I think the removal process must have done some permanent damage. Even uninstalling IE using Win98SE Lite and then reinstalling it with all the latest MS patches didn't cure the problem.
In exasperation I started looking at alternatives. First I tried Opera. It's certainly powerful but seemed a bit bloated and the screen was too cluttered for my taste. I then tried Mozilla, and like the others have said, I haven't looked back since. It has all the things that IE lacks - a genuinly useful print preview, and a popup blocker.

Once upon a time, I was super pro IE. After many, many viruses and browser hijacks (and popups!) I decided to give Firefox a shot. I figured, why not? It's a measily 6M download.
Wow! No popups (well, I had ONE, not sure why, but that's it) nothing installed against my will, and tabbed browsing! I thought the tabs were stupid when I first heard about it, but now that I've used it, I can't go back!
As for your problem, as mentioned earlier, delete all cache files and cookies.

Or you can make up your own custom 'tricks' using mouse gestures... All-In-One Mouse Gestures extensions totally rocks :)
