Joystick Selection
« on: August 17, 2004, 12:02:30 am »
Ok, I'm a bit new to the game of making my own cabinet and am in the process of selecting controls for the panel.  My main questions is about joysticks.  There are so many to choose from, and some are cheaper than others.  My big question is will a 4/8 way stick be sufficient for my gaming or should I get the 360' from Happ?  The games I will mainly be playing is standard fare for MAME, but the exceptions are the fighters.  Like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.  Will a 4/8 work like I am expecting, or should I spend the extra for the 360?

Thanks in advance.

a 4/8 way will work well for you.  I'd recommend the Ultimarc T-Stick.

Holy crap that was fast...   Thanks man.  I will get me a couple of them then.

Also I will be posting pictures as I begin my adventure.  I'm sure I will be here a bit.

I would get a T-Stick + so that you can easily switch from 4/8 with out having to get under the CP to switch it.

I play fighters and the classics and use competitions and MsPac/Galag 4 ways. They are both great. If you have the room you could put a 4 way in the middle of your CP with 2 8 ways to the left and right.
