X-arcade Joystick Assembly help
« on: August 25, 2002, 07:07:54 pm »
This is almost emberassing... I can't seem to figure out how to assemble my joystick.  It's on the of x-gaming branded super clones.

Here's  a pic of the parts... (excuse the mspaint-isms I don't have photochop on my craptop)
http://www.randomdrivel.com/ubercade/joypartstrimmed.jpg

I've tried several combinations... I was hoping I didn't have to use the sleeve cover (1)  but the shaft just falls through if you don't...

I tried looking at happs supers exploded diagram for comparisons sake but it's not an exact match...   if someone with either enough general joystick knowledge or specific x-gaming joystick knowledge could help me get a clue, I'd be much obliged.

Based on your pic, it looks like it should go (top to bottom):
Stick,
Part #1,
Part #3,
Part #4,
Joystick base,
Part #2.

This is based on experience assembling the Super, and yes, you will have to use the sleeve cover (1).

Oh yeah, nice domain name too.

Thank you! That worked perfect...

FWIW what I failed to realize is that you need to compress the spring slightly to fit the e/c-clip on there...   which made it difficult for me to figure out without any clues how it should fit together...

So, I've assembled the joystick thanks to Sasquatch's  advice. on my cardboard mockup... and now I'd like to know what's the preferred method for removing the e clip (or is it c clip) at the base of the joystick... it's reusable right?

thanks!

A small flat screwdriver is how I remove e-clips, and they are reusable.

BEWARE: That little clip will want to fly across the room and disappear forever.  I usually use needle-nosed pliers to remove it.
